These new Player Ratings are based on the latest league scores from Moffitt.  I'll recalc ratings again after I receive final scores for the current McGreg, Jester & Mozola leagues.  As noted before, updated ratings are based on scores in 2010 and the last 2 years (2008 & 2009). Scores for 2007 are being purged as I update each venue.

Player Rating System

We use a Player Rating System to place participants in divisions for league competition. The HFDS System is based on the player's scores from league
play and the WCP (World Class Par) for the courses they've played. The HFDS League Divisions are PURPLE, GREEN, RED, WHITE, BLUE, and GOLD.

An HFDS Player Rating is calculated for everyone who has played in league during the last 24 to 36 months on one of the “standard” course configurations, and is based on the average score in league and the WCP rating for each “standard” course configuration. The WCPs used are based on the average scores of the top PDGA players who have played an HFDS league. Our HFDS WCPs are listed below. To estimate your HFDS Player Rating, subtract the appropriate WCP from your average score at a specific course, multiple the difference by 10, and subtract from 1000, then see the table below. Ex: An average score of 54 at Moffitt from the original tees results in a Player Rating of 900, and competes in the BLUE division (54–44=10; 10x10=100; 1000–100=900=BLUE). Your actual Rating is a weighted-average of scores from all leagues, so if you play multiple leagues, your Rating
will be a weighted-average.

This approach replaces the rule to "move up when you win" with a performance-based system, and creates several new divisions for the Intermediate
players, which result in more balanced competition. Also, since the HFDS Player Ratings are calculated the same for male and female players, there are
no gender-based divisions and pay-outs will be larger.

WCP

Any player can choose to play in a bracket above their recommended level, but you cannot play down. Players may choose to play up for several reasons, including a desire for a higher-level competition or wanting to play in a bracket with a higher pay-out.

You don't have to be an HFDS member to have an HFDS Player Rating, but if you aren't, it sure would be nice if you would show your support for disc
golf in Houston and join the Houston Flying Disc Society.
