Annise Parker Candidate for Mayor of City of Houston Response to the Disc Golf & Candidate Questionnaire 1. Do you support disc golf? Parker’s Response: Yes. 2. Do you support the use of City of Houston park land for disc golf? Parker’s Response: Yes. 3. Are you aware that disc golf is environmentally friendly? Parker’s Response: Yes. 4. Are you aware that Houston, Texas hosted the 2002 Disc Golf World Championships? Parker’s Response: Yes. 5. Do you support the use of private donations to improve, expand and install disc golf courses on City of Houston park land? Parker’s Response: Yes. 6. Do you support the use of public funds to improve, expand and install disc golf courses on City of Houston park land? Parker’s Response: As funds are available. 7. Are you aware that disc golf is a family friendly sport that offers a high benefit-to-cost ratio both for recreation departments and citizens of all ages and backgrounds and that playing an 18 hole round of disc golf requires walking for approximately 1 and 1/2 hours and burns approximately 700 calories through low-impact aerobic activity? Parker’s Response: Yes. 8. Are you aware that disc golf has grown at the rate of 10% per year for the past 20 years? Parker’s Response: No. 9. What can you do to promote the interests of disc golf in the Houston, Texas area? Parker’s Response: I will have an overall fitness and health campaign as mayor, of which disk golf could be a part – anything to get Houstonians moving outdoors. But, I am open to suggestions. 10. Why should the disc golf community in Houston, Texas support your election campaign? Parker’s Response: I’m the only candidate with the leadership, experience and vision to get things done in these tough economic times. I’m the only one who launched audits that rooted out fraud and waste, freeing up millions for priorities like police, parks and after-school programs. I’m the only one with a detailed “Hire Houston First” plan and a far-reaching energy plan that will create good-paying jobs and make Houston the new energy capital of the world. I’m the only one who will aggressively protect your tax dollars – and I won’t sacrifice public safety or vital services to pay for expensive new projects we cannot afford. |

This is very cool stuff Richard and I offer you my personal "Thanks!" for putting this survey together and then sending it out to the candidates.
I hadn't ever really considered the idea of surveying these candidates to find out how much they'd support the support of disc golf if elected. When all other things boil down to being equal between two candidates, then I'm going to like having these survey results to refer to when casting my ballot. I'm impressed that you got one of the candidates for Mayor to respond to this...I hope other disc golfers find these beneficial too. |
