a call to the NSCG
Matt, The bridge that crosses the ravine going to the #6 hole was washed downstream about 150ft during Friday nights deluge.
we are going to try and get the bridge pulled out and dragged back into place this Thursday evening with the help of David Millers college DG club members. If you could spread the word amongst the NSCG members that we could really use there help Thursday evening I would appreciate it...Thursday Nov. 5th |

We should probably talk when you get a chance. Thursday/Friday's rain was pretty good, but it wasn't THAT big. You can bet that it'll be happening again. I can't make it up there on a weeknight, but with advanced planning, I can usually get some time on a weekend. |
Re: a call to the NSCG
we plan on chaining it to two big pines on both sides of the ravine...we have to get it back there first, so that's our top priority, I'm there working most every Sat and or Sun. and if Millers club comes out Thursday I'll be there then as well.

Chain it on one corner only and clear crap out so that the bridge will pivot at the corner it is tethered by. Let the bridge float until the water level goes down and then swing the bridge back into place. |
Re: a call to the NSCG
I think they are wanted to 'set it and forget it'.
What was that old infomercial about?? Something about cooking. |

It is pretty easy to underestimate the power that a lot of fast-flowing water like that has...it is very powerful and that is why they aren't going to be able to chain to trees on either side either...it will either snap the supporting rails of the bridge, or it will pull the trees out of the ground, but my bet is on the main support rails being snapped. If it is allowed to pivot, thenit should naturally present the smallest/narrowest edge to the flowing water and should at least stay in the vicinity of the hole and two people should be able to manage getting it back into place again. |
