We have a lot of various conversations on the other threads about minis and such so I thought I would start a thread focused on the Concrete Pad install.

Concrete Pour Date
FEB. 20th 7:00AM at Windwood Disc Golf Course

As of now Feb. 20th seems as open as it's going to get to set a concrete box pour date. We can start picking up Pre-mixed, agitating and ready to pour concrete at 0730 in the morning.
I'm going to step out on a limb and say we have enough sponsorship committments and money being raised at the weekly minis to pour as many concrete T-boxes as can be poured in a day. We could have a complete course poured if you show up.. weather permitting

There will always be something else going on and we have no control of that. Windwood is a great course, trying to be greater, it's being built by disc golfers, for disc golfers. If your a disc golfer we are asking you to set aside a day Feb. 20th and take a leadership stance. Whatever you can do that day will make a difference. There will be enough work to go around that day that we need everyone. If your reading this then we need you.

1. We need trucks that are eqiupped with a 2inch ball to haul the trailers of pre-mixed concrete from Tomball Rentals to the church.

2. We need golfers with wheelbarrows at the church to get the concrete from the closest point we can pull the trailer up to, to the box.

3. We need golfers to tamp and broom the box once poured.

4. We need golfers to spray out the trailers after the box is poured.

5. And we need to repeat this cycle until the course is poured.

We can have multiple trailers running and the concrete gets cheaper after the first load. After the first load we are looking at just over $100.00 per box for the cost of the concrete. Tomball rentals is only a few miles from the church. If we can get a turnout anywhere near the number of golfers who will show up to play a tournament.....We'll have a course poured..

It's early enough to put this date on your calendar at home and start rounding up whoever and whatever you can get your hands on to help.

We welcome the various local disc golf organizations, societies and clubs to join us in leading the way... It's not someone elses job to build us great courses to play. It's "Our" job.

Again we know there will be something else going on that day, there always will.. It's a personal choice. I'm asking for your help. Please post if you can for sure, no doubt, be counted on to be there.. If you lead the way, maybe you can inspire another golfer to do the same.

Some people have asked about if they can drop off some lumber for the forms YES! We have a place to store them and any support would be great. If you can email me at drogers@windwoodpc.org and we can coordinate when you can drop it off.

Friday night sounds like a great time to access the condition of the boxes. They will need to be prepped so we can start that, but do we want people using the prepped boxes? Should we set up temp boxes just off to the side? I will be out Friday and Saturday taking it all in for the project I am working on, so I am available to discuss options.

I think you set up 1-3 forms the night before just before dark so that no one messes with them (hopefully). This will give a headstart on the concrete guys the next morning. Then while some are working concrete, we can keep builiding forms the next morning as well.

yeah I think we'll need to have at least 3-5 holes prepped and ready (ground work and forms in place) before Saturday morning.

Please round up wheelbarrows, hoes, shovels an ax, a hammer, nails and anything you think will help and bring it with you.

As was mentioned previously, start from the furthest to the closest.

Yeah, the plan is coming together to have some of the formsforms and prep work complete before we arrive on Sat. morning.

Time table:
people arrive about 7:00 and everyone can start working on the other forms while the trucks go get the concrete
7:30 - is when the company will start loading trailers
8:00 - when the concrete gets to the first box
8:30 - concrete is in place for the first box and another form is finished
REPEAT!

We could run two trucks at a time but even then you have to remember each trailer will only hold enough concrete for one pad so there is travel time and loading time for each trip. Some of you might say lets run more than two trucks, sounds good but the company only has so many trailers and the odds are we are not the only people wanting trailers. I say we plan concervatively and work with 2 trucks.

I really feel like if we have a crew of people (3 people) working on forms and site prep the rest doing the concrete thing we will be golden. The pads we plan on doing the 20th we should be able to drive the trailers really close to them so not to much hauling concrete around. GOOD NEWS!!! Also we are limited to the number of pads we can do by the money that we have. Right now we have the funds and promises for 7 pads.

I am super excited about the progress and if we get all 7 pads in place in one day that is a HUGE undertaking and we should all be proud of that. I mean just think about how quickly this course has come together. (way to go SCOTT HAWKINS for that :))

I don't know..... Have you met the guy? He seems alittle OCD to me.:D
