Chronicle

The Houston Chronicle City State section has a DG article. There's a pic on page B3 but I can't find the write up... The pic claims it is on B12 but that be the weather...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

I agree,

I'm very excited about JB. It's such a different venue, and what this is going to do for those courses is awesome!

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Pardon, Harris County. Regardless, I've talked to the staff at Tom Bass and they were clear, you're not supposed to be in the ponds at Tom Bass.

BTW - this is where Jimbo almost died, as...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Yes there is, if the police see you it's a ticket. The park guys watch for it, they won't stop you, but if a cop is near they will send him over. They don't like or want it.

So, it puts a set of...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Not allowed! Even if you don't know what you're talking about. Clearly, I never let that stop me.

The concept of saving spots for Pros, vs. those who do their job and get registered early, is as...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Skip the learning book, thanks for steppin' up Jake! It's a thankless job. Look at what Chuck and Neal are putting up with. It's hard to be perfect.

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

BTW - the idea of saving Pro spots is a tough issue, and I don't know how to approach it, but I do agree with Matt, Matt O. is a difficult turn away. I'm sad that he wasn't there.

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

I have to agree with Billy,

this was a well run event from the play standpoint. The courses felt and looked great and the use of string and flags made them excellent! Thanks Neal, Chuck, and...

Re: The Anti-creativity checklist

Personally,

I find that TZs point is well made. I've seen them all. My most recent one was our purchase of a new phone system. We looked at three. The best one was open source (asterix) 1/3rd...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

There is a model, Seneca Creek (Craig Gangloff) used it last year, that curves the entry fee based on rating. The higher the rating, the higher the entry fee. Top Pros whine about it, but it worked...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

It was the part about thread drift, it clearly was not what Matchuman wanted. You should have stayed with TS... :)

I remember playing Adv Masters with a 790 rating. Didn't do it to win, but...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Matchuman,

Did it ever occur to you that we are reading your points and disagreeing with them?

Biologically humans exhibit two characteristics that combined with thinking and speech give them...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Thanks Eric, and for all the work you and Neal have done out there.

Personally, I think goading someone to move up has cost this sport a lot of very good players. That said, pre-tournament...

What kind of shape was the course in, water wise.

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Matt, one other thing, don't think that because HFDS didn't dump in some cash that they didn't contribute to league parties. We're a bit like a church. We are a membership, without our members, the...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

As a complete aside,

I think one of the smartest things we've ever done was moving this to March. Better weather, starts of the season as a first big event for the State, and many players. I...

It's pretty hard to offend me, and Sue rarely does, even when she tries... :) She has a legitimate point, but it isn't the one I was addressing with Matt. Matt, who is concerned...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

I'm not disagreeing with your point of view Matt, but there are lots of local Pros. Just look at all the PGMs that registered for this event.

As for the BBQ. Yes, I did it for two years after...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

The movement of TS from Tom Bass has benefits and detractions. The benefit is that, if we could get a site like Quail, we have a better venue, period. Getting that done is big enough that it is...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

In general I agree with Matt's concerns. The founding fathers of this event, so to speak, were Pros who wanted a big local Pro event. They were tired of travelling out of the region to play. I got...

Re: 2010 Texas State Disc Golf Championships

Hey Matt,

Do you think that in part the Ams come out so heavily because of the Pro nature of the event? While I like the notion that there'd be two events, I worry about losing Ams if you changed...

Re: What courses should I play?

I was in Atlanta about three years ago, I didn't get to play a lot of the parks there, but I played the ones the locals told me to.

Hoping that my mind isn't totally gone...

I'm going to slightly disagree with you. Some of those 1s and 1.5s are earned... Sort of. I may have written this on the review there but the truth is to appreciate Tom Bass, you have to have a...
