Anyway Houston needs to look outside the box and take some notes from areas where disc golf is doing well (North Carolina) and put a few new things into place to encourage a fun yet competitive culture.
There is and has been reasons why Houston has a very small number of Adv and Pro players relative to the total number of players in the city. We have more courses than anywhere else yet only have 3 or so in-town Pros and this isn't a coincidence........our competitive culture is almost non-existent.
One reason I like playing for money (even $1) is that it keeps me from wanting to throw 3 drives on every hole and actually makes players focus moreso than they would in a pure casual round.
Forgive me for speaking up but I feel I was one of the lucky ones who became good and escaped most of the Houston flytrap. Austin and Dallas are also places we could look to for new ideas.
stuck on the fly trap myself
