Anyway Houston needs to look outside the box and take some notes from areas where disc golf is doing well (North Carolina) and put a few new things into place to encourage a fun yet competitive culture.
There is and has been reasons why Houston has a very small number of Adv and Pro players relative to the total number of players in the city. We have more courses than anywhere else yet only have 3 or so in-town Pros and this isn't a coincidence........our competitive culture is almost non-existent.
One reason I like playing for money (even $1) is that it keeps me from wanting to throw 3 drives on every hole and actually makes players focus moreso than they would in a pure casual round.
Forgive me for speaking up but I feel I was one of the lucky ones who became good and escaped most of the Houston flytrap. Austin and Dallas are also places we could look to for new ideas.
