Re: Suggestions for Birdshot
I think we'd like to know how exactly we can assure anybody in any division of how many people they will have to play with...that's part of the problem....how do we attract pros in the first place (without it being a B-tier event)? My feeling is that since our refund policy is now more lenient than it used to be, why don't you (Matt) sign up early on & see if you can attract people in? If nobody bites, you can always back out & get your money back. I wouldn't necessarily want to wait until the day of the tourney to find out either...I'm with you there! I remember Dixon will sometimes wait until a couple of days before because he felt that if he signed up early he might "scare" some people away. At the sanctioned events, I think the registration fee for pros is where it should be ($50)...typically for minis we reduce all the division fees by about half, the pros we've been charging $20....Novice & REC $5....INT & ADV $10. I'll ask you the same question I asked yesterday...if we lowered it to $15 for pros, do you think more people would play up (we're talking strictly the minis here)? As far as the real tourneys go, who knows what is going to motivate advanced players with a higher rating to go "pro"...as far as us older guys go, I'm trying to start a trend by moving up (like Chuck did when he started playing MG1 by himself). At the minis, though, I will probably play my rating....unless all us old guys want to pay the extra $ to play in an MPG division at the minis...I wouldn't want to play against you, Matt (not to say that I wouldn't want to play with you, just not against you).
