I submitted the following to The Leader and the Ultimate section of the Houston Chronicle:
Dennis Woodward reports that the Houston Flying Disc Society is participating in Houston Parks and Recreation Department's Adopt-A-Spot program. The HFDS has adopted TC Jester park. HFDS invites members of the community to participate in the clean up at TC Jester park on January 8th (rain date Jan.29th). Members of HFDS and the community will meet in the parking lot along East TC Jester near the pool at 10:00 a.m. The group will spend 1-1 1/2 hours removing litter from the train tracks to 43rd Street. Following the clean up there will be a disc throwing contest called a CTP (closest to the pin) for prizes. Participants will try to throw their disc or a borrowed one into the basket. There will also be a mini tournament; format to be decided the day of. It would be wonderful if members of the community could contact Dennis Woodward to volunteer to place one of the trash bags in their home trash can to remove the burden of disposal. Please contact Dennis (713-290-8961),
rucrazy001@hotmail.com, or on facebook if you live along TC Jester and are willing to dispose of a bag of trash from the park.
