Work Day/Play Day at Telge/Bud Hatfield Texas Army Trail DGC
Volunteer Help Requested
On Sunday, January 30th please come out to
Telge/Bud Hatfield Texas Army Trail DGC (final course name TBD) for a work and play day. We are seeking volunteers to help continue the clearing of the new 18 hole course. We will be working on the course from 9am til 3pm, break for a BBQ hotdog lunch provided by DGProShop/Disc Golf Consultants and after working, we’re setting up 9 baskets on the ‘front loop’ and play holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 17 & 18.
Precinct 3 Parks has granted permission to install the new course but they are not funding the equipment. Donations and hole sponsorships are needed and we will host a fundraising event in the near future. This course is slated to be one of the most challenging in the area currently measuring approximately 6800'.
The Precinct granted us permission to begin clearing fairways about 3 months ago. There has been a consistent small group of volunteers working on the course since then headed by Chuck Haney. To date approximately 2/3 of the course has been cleared.
The Precinct has stated they are going to install an eco-friendly parking area, remove the cleared brush, grind down fairway stumps, provide fill dirt for low areas created by ATV trails and assist with installing concrete tee pads. This should begin once the fairways are cleared.
Notes:
Chuck and company do go out on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’d like to volunteer at other times please call Chuck before heading out there. He can be reached at (713) 702 9171.
