Re: new courses
Okay, here's the skinny on Dunbar Park....nice little course but probably should have been a nine hole course rather than 18 holes. Nothing against Jeremy Todd & the people that put it in, but I shot a 51 the second time around & I've never shot under par on any course anywhere ever....that's how easy it is! Great beginner & recreational course...and I must admit that it did make me feel good to shoot under par for the first time ever (playing singles anyway...I've shot under with partners in doubles a few times). I told Jeremy after birdies on the first two holes that if I ended up under par then the course was too easy. I ended up with a 55 the first round but then shot three under the second time around. It is a nice park & would be challening to beginners, but it would be too easy for the really good players. We are going to help them with the Grand Opening though...it will be August 1st & we're keeping it unsanctioned so the Lake Jackson people won't have to pony up a lot of money to play. Andi & Don will be at Worlds so it will be cash payout for all divisions....we will probably limit the novice division to brand new players & first timers...in other words, no baggers please! Hell, I'm still rated novice & shot under par...so you know what I mean! Again...I'm not knocking the course or the guys that designed it....but it is probably the easiest course I've played (other than Klute, where we went afterwards & I shot 7 down...but that doesn't really count - LOL!!!). More info as we get closer to August 1st!
