Per Dee's Facebook post, this could be the last event at Circle-R: "As you all know the ranch has been for sale for quite some time and we are now in negotiations with a serious buyer. It may actually get sold within the next month or two if all goes as planned."

We visited with John and Dee on Saturday April 21st for a good bit. They have a contract on the purchase of Circle-R and John stated that the prospective owner is NOT likely to retain the disc golf courses.
We were fortunate enough to get to play on it for one last time while the wildflowers were still in magnificent display. Rainfall on Friday had the creek running crystal-clear and although the water wasn't quite coming over the dam, it was still a gorgeous experience. There was even water in the pond by #17 / #18 on the Meadows course! I'd encourage everyone that has loved playing those courses as much as I have over the years, to get out there in the next month and log another round or two on them before they are gone forever. I remember passing by Circle-R on the way back from Fredericksburg long before I started playing disc golf myself. (I had always wondered what kind of a place it was...but figured it was just another crazy ranch-name.) Sure am sorry I missed out on its significance for all of those years before I found my way to disc golf! I know that many of you have recently started playing disc golf and may not know much about Circle-R so.... Circle-R is a 100+ acre ranch located just outside of Wimberley Texas, in the heart of Texas Hill Country. It has been owned and/or managed by John Houck, one of the world's premier disc golf course designers. It features two disctinctly different 18-hole courses. The "Meadows" course which plays in the meadows and woods by the Pro Shop and entrance, and the "Circ Hill" course which plays on the sides and top of an adjacent hill featuring lots of elevation changes and more woods. The 18-hole is particularly notable because it is a 600-700 foot long hole with about a 200 foot elevation drop from the tee at the top of the hill to the basket down near the valley bottom. In my opinion, it's worth taking a road trip to the Hill Country to spend a weekend playing those courses before the property gets sold. I think many others would agree. ![]() Larry
