The facts, from my perspective:
Birdshot States and Fundraiser & Dress Rehearsal Forum Thread Larry asked if the fundraiser would be sanctioned because if the tourney was sanctioned, he could forgo the Commando. Matchu’s comment of “sanctioning the tournament does nothing but give you points I suppose,”could have been construed as personal innuendos aimed at Larry, especially considering the history of animosity between the two. Matchu then pointed out that Larry’s comments sounded arrogant. But Larry’s response of “Don’t act like a jerk Matchu..” could only be interpreted as insulting, especially considering the history of animosity between the two. Sue took an obvious shot at Larry by saying “Have you seen the bronze statue they are casting for you Larry?” Larry in turn made very obvious insulting remarks with “Susan - before you and Matchu go getting your panties in a twist,” and he called their comments “childish outbursts” and then threatened “remedial action.” Sue’s next response asked some questions to which she sincerely wanted answers. Sue admitted that her remarks were only personal opinions and she also took the time to point out ways in which Larry contributed to the Houston disc golf community. Not everyone had the opportunity to read Sue’s response because Larry took it upon himself to delete the post. After deleting Sue’s response, Larry sent Sue a private message warning; "If you continue to antagonize me, I will simply ban you and let you appeal it at the next club meeting.” And “If you persist in antagonizing me, I'll shut you down and you can plead you case with the club." When the conversation doesn’t go as Larry thinks it should go, he has the sole discretion to ban people and they remain banned until they can voice their opinion at the next board meeting. If they can’t make it to the next meeting, then they remain banned until they can make a meeting. Larry, on the other hand, continues to speak his mind with absolutely no consequences even if he is obviously insulting to other message board members. The conversations could have been construed as insulting and antagonizing on the parts of all parties involved. So why aren’t all parties given the same warnings? Sue and Matchu have to keep their comments to themselves otherwise their rights to post their opinions will be removed. Larry makes insulting remarks and we all have to live with it because Larry’s posts are not monitored nor edited and they remain on the board for all to read. EVERY message board member can and does get monitored except Larry. I believe nothing will come of this, but sometimes I just can’t remain quiet. I hate to admit it but I let all of this affect me to the point that I really don’t look forward to golfing like I used to. It has been almost 3 months since I have been on the course. Dixon warned us about how other disc golf communities viewed all of this antagonism and how it reflected on the Houston disc golf community. And yet it continues. Even worse, one person whom is in a position of leadership continues to contribute to the antagonism but pretends he does so with the HFDS’ board approval. I was just wondering if that claim is true because it really does appear so on the surface. |

DG Jesus,
Don't let the message board stop you from playing disc golf. Come on out and lower your rating at some Birdshot tournaments. Hey, I'm good at these insults too. Must be contagious, or I have a natural talent. Most kidding aside, you may or may not know it DG Jesus, this bantering back and forth is just to keep the message board spicy and lively. If it was just boring information, people would lose interest. No, I don't read the National Enquirer.

We're all God's children, and there is good in all of us. I think the problem goes like this.
Absolute power corrupts absolute. Larry can call himself a winner, as I plan to stay away from this board. I also will not be a sponsor of States nor The Moffitt Show this year. I've been looking for some answers/direction, and the recent exchanges confirm this decision. Susan will be a player like everyone one else. See ya out on the course! |

Often the tone of the comments on this board do nothing for the image of disc golf in Houston. There is a lot of negativity here and I often wish that there was an alternative to the HFDS board for Houston disc golf discussion; a better moderated board with a more positive attitude would help our cause instead of harm it.
