For those of you hiding under a bush who haven't heard yet, the 2011 US Masters is happening at Shawshank Disc Golf Penitentiary near Huntsville on April 8th, 9th & 10th...registration opened up a couple of days ago & we're already cooking with gas! This is one of two huge events in our neck of the woods next year, so everybody get together & help make Masters and Texas States the best that they can be...volunteer your time & make plans to help make these PDGA Majors something we can all be proud of!

The US Masters is a major and all participants must pass the PDGA rules exam. In 2011 they are making everyone retest even if you have passed previously (typically you only need to pass every 3 years). The new rules exams is available as of last night on the PDGA website:
http://www.pdga.com/officials-exam-ready So if you are playing in the US Masters or any other major you MUST take the 2011 rules test! |

So Jim posted on the PDGA board his concerns about the doubles format and after actually looking at the post describing how it would be played I must say I was speechless. I still don't really know what to think about it although I would say using a Major to try experiments is not a good idea and is better left to smaller events.
42 mulligans? 21 for a 945 guy but 0 for a 955? Why? |

No really....I don't know what to think since it is doubles and unsanctioned yet because it is at a major and such a horrid format you will surely raise some eyebrows. Not only that but you increased the time of the round by at least an hour with all the extra shots (mulligans and cumulative format) thus further limiting the ability for people to practice the course. Why is it someone rated 945 gets 21 mulligans and even if they only save a stroke 25% of the time that equates to 5 strokes which would be around 995 while a guy who is rated 955 which is only 1 stroke per round better gets no handicap............and is stuck with the same playing field as Barry.......... Jim would probably like a response on the PDGA board although I will try and stay away from posting there. |

any contestant with initials j. k. has to putt from a box, unless he(or she) is rated 1044 or above, in which case he(or she) will putt from the back seat of a stolen '64 chevy nova traveling at no less than the average speed of a swallow, african swallow,, but no faster than the top speed of the millenium falcon, (hyperspace not allowed), using only a putter hand carved from worm wood retrieved from the abyss by his(or her) great uncle(or aunt)Maynard while on a deep(or shallow) sea expedition with the great Jaques Cousteau.
