Default Just a thought....

"Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you" (Proverbs 4:24).

I have sometimes wondered what would happen if our noses really did grow longer each time we told a lie. Not just big lies, even when we tell little white ones. What if we were caught every single time our speech was anything but straight forward?

I bet then we would more closely watch what comes out of our mouths.

Guarding our hearts has a huge impact on what comes out of our mouths. The difference between being honest and deceptive is the difference between a pure heart and a polluted one. Jesus once said, "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45).

The only way we would be able to put away crooked and devious speech would be to walk the righteous path on which only a righteous heart treads. The path our heart takes is the path our tongues will naturally take as well. This is why it is so important to guard our hearts.

If our goal is to honor God in all we say and do, we will fail miserably if we are people who are known as deceitful, tricky, scheming, wily, underhanded, cunning, sneaky, crafty, or sly when it comes to our words. In other words, we cannot honor God if we are liars. Even if our noses don't grow longer each time we lie, we will be found out. For that which is in our hearts always works its way to the surface.

Uhhh....

You realize this is a forum for disc golf right?

Seriously though, there are better places to do this, because I don't think anyone wants to hear it. And I'm not just talking about this post or you in general - I'm talking all the stupid things that have been "shared" lately on posts.

Stick to the disc golf people - and have your disagreements somewhere else.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

And just don't read my post if they upset you so. There is more to life than disc golf, and given the attitudes expressed here recently, it seemed like something I wanted to share.

Susan very eloquently stated a thought citing passages from the "good book" which she thought might be appropriate for some of the haggling that's been going on recently. I know a single word that basically says the same thing.....kharma!

Please don't confused upset with annoyed. I guess I'd just rather spend my time reading about how Chuck has brought Mason Park back to life, or when we're getting together to install tee boxes to improve Windwood. Things like that. I also don't like pissing wars in a public forum even though it seems to happen quite a bit.

But to each their own I guess.

Mason Park is a monster that has been brought back to life. It instantly devoured me on the first round I played it, longs and then shorts - 68. Ouch. If you like to see how good you are at hitting tight windows, its great. Hopefully the baskets won't be used for BBQ anymore.

Sue I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to send out the message... Even if it were meant for one, rest assured their are others who's soul needed the message as much if not more... It works that way, mysteriously..
Speaking of a little chicken soup and by request... We will begin working preparing the ground and building the T-box forms next Weds.-Fri. evenings Feb 17, 18, 19... And we pour concrete at 7am on Saturday Feb 20th. I have enough wood to build 3-4 boxes, so we need some lumber if you have any.. We also need all the wheelbarrows we can get.

I love playing the game, but I've got to be honest...my soul needs the chicken soup of putting in a hard days work again.

Spending a day working on a course for a game many of us (maybe you) find as refuge in our lives won't solve our problems...but it is taking a step in a positive direction, and sometimes when everything seems to be going wrong in our lives....one step in the "positive" direction is a start to turning our tide..

Come out and put in some work for your passion. I know I'm not the only one....Anyone who's been putting in their time on a course will tell you... It's chicken soup for the disc golf soul..
