Thank you Tracy for stating the obvious....we at Birdshot have never once professed to be perfect...we're learning as we go & doing the best (so far) that we can. If there were more people like you & Matt (and ERic, Neal, Larry and others) who would be willing to be step in & give us a bigger crew on tournament day, then maybe we could could go back to walk-ups & make everybody happy. But there would still be somebody somewhere who is going to complain about something. Like I've always said...if it stop being fun, I quit. Not just Birdshot, but the game period. I know I'm not any good, but I keep coming back for more...trying to get better & trying to learn. Nuff said on this thread...Billy "Birdshot" Gilbert

Petre!!!!! She chewed through her chain again and is causing problems.
I'm telling you dude, a good electric shock collar and we'll all sleep better at night knowing she's under control. Livens up things in bed too if you time the shocks just right.

Randy...You need to work on your own sex life and leave ours out of your business. I know how bad you want in but face it man, it will never happen. If Cheryl knows whats best she would put a muzzle on you & shut you up!

This has been an very fun read this afternoon, and have to laugh as I wasn't a part of it. LOL
Bottomline, Birdshot has a lot to still learn, but they are moving in a positive direction. My only suggestion would be to show some consideration for your players, especially those from out of town who travel. We all KNOW you got the Austin players $$ by Thursday, right? And after turning away people from Corpus Christi (Bret & Shannon) at Moffitt you let Tony Hernandez play (he signed up at moffitt guys!)Be considerate and consistant. It's not hard, and it is arrogant to think that everyone has internet access. Kinda an elitist attitude, a suttle filter to keep the non-tech folks away if possible. LOL I am sure going forward, if they continue to listen to feedback in a non-defensive manner, it will get better. Larry, I am disappointed that you would post about your game and understandable poor play and not bother to mention Tiff's 278 ft ace on a single chain basket. Should have expected nothing less. I know we all want the same things, but we continue to forget we are all on the same side. It's like the math problem.......everyone can get the right answer, but we all get there by different calculations/methods. As for Easy Money's bedtime problems..............ouch, don't think there is any hope for that anytime soon. ![]() ONE THING I KNOW FOR SURE.........I HOPE THAT ALL THE CRITICS WILL STEP UP FOR TEXAS STATES THIS YEAR AND STAFF. I KNOW I AM TIRED OF STAFFING AND WANT TO BE A PLAYER THIS NEXT YEAR. IT IS TIME FOR SOME OF YOU FOLKS TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR DISC GOLF IN OUR AREA..........STAFF AND STAFF OFTEN!

You need affordable tournaments at which average players can play and enjoy themselves. The PDGA list 127 current members that are rated 1000+. Is catering to the top 5% of your membership in the best interest of the sport? I don't know. I've only been at this sport for seven months now. But I question whether that's a formula for long term success. I do think that the city could use more championship caliber courses. For those hardcore players that want to seriously compete a city of 4+ million people should have more quality courses. But at the same time all the dis'ing of "small pointless courses" is overblown. I'd guess many of your now great players got their start and found their love of the game on what you consider a small pointless course. This is an interesting discussion that has gotten way off [Mozola Tourney] topic now. I also agree with Tracy that the continued negativity could certainly dissuade new players from participating. But that being said, I carefully read not only the rules, but the special case studies stuff as well, and the rules committee made an interpretive statement that "... a disc that is lost cannot be presumed to be OB just because it is close to it. Players must witness the disc hit water in order to declare the disc as OB. Otherwise, the disc is a "lost disc"... The rules of play treat a lost disc differently than they do an OB disc. Mine was clearly a "lost disc" and should have been played from the point of the last throw (as determined by the card) and I should've been re-throwing my 5th throw. Matt: You got me on that one!

It doesn't matter how strong your opinions are. If you don't use your power for positive change, you are, indeed, part of the problem.

Isn't everyone thrilled deliriously to have the board back on line? It's like Thanksgiving dinner with the family ain't it?

I don't think 6 of 8 filled as their last two didn't and I know others didn't as well. Anyway I am not going to give you too much crap but I never said we needed courses for 1000 rated players only but we do need at least one or two more that are designed for the 950 player. You will learn a lot more about course design after another year or two. Also when measuring holes you don't go from Tee to basket but instead you go along the fairway on the shortest route. |
