The Seabrook Parks department must be office in a very cold building with all the trees they've cut down at Miramar. We went out and played today and every hole but 7 & 8 have lost trees, important trees. Many of these trees were dying due to Ike; the park was submerged in the 'toxic sludge' for about a week after Ike came through.
Here's a list of the damage:
- Hole 1 lost the two big trees in front of the tee box and a number of trees on the left side of the path are gone too.
- Hole 2 lost a couple more trees near the basket to go with the three fairway trees that they cut down earlier.
- Hole 3 lost all but two trees by the basket. The hole is wide open.
- Hole 4 lost trees along the first part of the fairway on both the left and right of the path.
- Hole 5 lost the pine on the right, more of a loss to 5a.
- Hole 6 lost more trees than any other hole including the big dead pine near the basket and many of the trees that guarded the hyzer route.
- Hole 9 lost a few trees close tot he tee box opening up a big anhyzer route with the right wind.
Most of the trees were cut into 4-5' long segments and then shoved into the edges of the treeline making it very hard in some cases to get into the woods to retrieve errant throws.
It is very sad to see that Miramar has lost so much of it's nastiness since Ike.
