While poured asphalt tee-boxes may not be ideal or on the Houston Disc Golf wish list, the fact that Parks & Rec. is putting in a permanent sort of tee-box is a major threshold in Houston Parks & Recreation disc golf courses. Even if the tee-boxes are not installed exactly the way we would want them, it is easier to get Parks & Rec. to make improvements at some point after installation. Thus, I ask people to be supportive and patient in regards to the new still being constructed hot poured asphalt tee-boxes.

But if you have to drive from the side of them, what has really been improved? Thanks for the effort but no thanks. Whomever has the contact with the City of Houston now needs to make a reality check and stay on top of what is going on. Hate to see Mac go to pot because no one is really paying attention to what they are doing, and not speaking up and doing anything. I did so much at that course and really love it enough to make me worry.

Permanent tee boxes are not always the best alternative, as concrete tee boxes are not always the best choice. JMO, whom nobody really gives a pookie. LOL

Very confusing situation, we're supposed to be happy that they are doing something, even if it is crap?????

I understand if you can't be there during the pouring of the asphalt T-Boxes, and I understand that the parks department requires that they do the work, what I don't really get is going through the effort to get them to agree to do the project then walking away from it and expecting others to say thank you for screwing it up...

This is just my opinion, but understanding that the people doing the work aren't disc golfers, and really have no understanding of what they should look like when finished, the least that could be done is to draw them diagrams of the proper shape, depth, measurements and how the direction of the box is determined when placing the forms... This alone could possibly prevent the project from being more of a hinderance then an improvement.

The old saying of if you want something done right, do it yourself comes to mind... even when we aren't allowed to do it ourselves ( poured by disc golfers) the least we could do is draw them pictures..and if at all possible have someone there when they pour the first one at least to offer them direction in a friendly, gratefull and curtious way...Basically see this all the way through, otherwise it seems like a lot of wasted effort on someones part to get this far and then walk away and hope for the best... Half azzing it with produce half azz results, which in turn produces very little support or half azz support at best. The park and course are very important to many people downtown, I don't play it, but that's because I live up north

Not complaining, bashing, whining or critisizing, just trying to offer a suggestion to who ever has taken this project this far.... Good luck

They have diagrams, they have dimensions, they have photos and drawings. Its more about getting something there, so that something better can come later more easily.

Government style work. Why is it, that even with pictures, directions, etc. they still have such appathy that resources are wasted in the name of doing something?

Yep, just like big brother in Washington. Let's waste a wad, and then when we've spent it all..............we'll ask for more to FINALLY do it right.

well if they have all that and are still doing it wrong, then they need someone there to help point them in the right way.. What's the point, once they put it in wrong, then players will have to live with it wrong forever, as they check the box off as completed and move on to another project to screw up...

I'd rather play on dirt then have to avoid a hazard when Teeing off.. but then again I don't play McGregor...that's the same reason I avoid Moffit....hazard T-boxes...

It's funny I'm sitting here in my office looking out my window that looks into the aircraft Hangar reading a sign we put up a few years ago that says "Fix it right the FIRST Time"

It was my understanding that it was pointed out to the workers while they were building the frames. I can't imagine that anyone could think that Kim Pech could be a negative person, as he, Dee and CA Mike tried to explain. They didn't give a rats behind if it was wrong, and apparently they made it very clear.

Soooooooooooo, polite people attempted to point out the problems while they were being built, what else are we supposed to do.???

TRIP ON THE BOXES? BREAK SOME BONES?

This is a perfect illustration of our tax dollars at work.
