I forgot the sidewalk possibly coming into play on #4....it also comes into play on the other side by the bayou! As far as the double mando, etc.....Chris, it's your serve!

Make sure that he checks in with some MacLocals so that the course plays similar to normal

CHris will have the tournament guide available soon. Here are some of my thoughts. Some of the mandos will be just for the medium tee boxes, one just for the long tee boxes, some for both tee boxes. L(Long) M(Medium)Don't need the one on #3 from last year since tee box shifted. Need one on #4(L,M) - stay to the left of tree up the fairway to keep throws off of basket #3. Narrow strip now since walking path on left is OB. #A(L,M) Chris and I forgot to take a good look at the mandos on A and C. Which tree(s) to use is debatable and will have to be discussed. On A, choose a tree on the right that you must stay left of that keeps throws off of C's fairway. #C(L,M) is a double mando I believe. Keeps you off parking lot on left and keeps you off of A's fairway on right. Its the tree on the right that is debatable. Double mando on #6(M). Keeps throws off of #7 fairway, but also for fun because tree on right is debatable on whether needed or not to keep throws off of #5 basket. The mando on #7(L,M) is down to the left, stay to the right of a pine tree that keeps throws off of #8 tee box, easy one to make I think. Traditional one on #10(L,M), stay left of tree on the right to keep throws off of #1 fairway. #18 has a double mando for the long to protect parking lot on right and #15 basket on the left. Probably should be one for the #18 medium to protect #15 basket, not sure if there is an available tree though. Discuss that one. MacGregor is a very tight course and needs lots of mandos. With the two tee box locations it makes it a little more complicated. Using the walking path instead of the street makes an easy course a little harder.

Two single mandos vs. a double mando needs to be clearly specified as the mando lines are different between the two. The player guide would ideally include example diagrams showing the difference if you intend to use both. Regardless it would be nice to have the mando lines painted and flagged.
Double mandos that don't have mando lines painted/flagged can lead to unexpected missed mandos especially when the two mando markers are staggered like on hole #C. It's the player's responsibility to know the rules, but I would think it would be extremely useful to include the content of these two links in the player guide: http://www.pdga.com/rules/80312-mandatories http://www.pdga.com/faq/rules-questi...datory-went-ob Quote:

Also, hole #13 could use a mando to stop players from throwing a big RHBH hyzer out over the path to the right that easily endangers players on #14's tee/fairway. I saw that shot a few times while playing league out there. |

3 good points ERic.
1. Double Mandos will be flagged to show line of mando. Not painted though, thats redundant and not needed for a C tier, maybe a B tier and above. Use line of sight along flags. Unless somebody wants to bring the paint and do it after flags planted. 2. I didn't know that 10 long had a double mando. Makes sense. 3. I don't see many people throw a RHBH on 13, but you have to look at who I play with. Good idea to mando to keep throws off of 14. Such a tight course. The more mandos, the merrier? Maybe not. But necessary. Oh yeah, the A and C mandos. It just depends on how thin you want to make the fairways when you decide on which trees to use. We could go with the traditional ones or not. |

Birdshot will be offering day-of registration for Loch & Load, and for the first time ever you'll be able to pay with your credit card on site for a Birdshot tourney (Note: a $2 service fee will be included for credit card transactions). Like Billy said; it is best to pre-register for the tournament if you want to get your spot. A third of the spots are already filled.
