I agree with the Halls regarding natural tees (dirt/grass) as opposed to gravel to a degree....the only problem with natural tees is when it rains, if the box is worn down they get muddy. Concrete tees would be great IMO...you don't have to worry about that. The drawback to concrete boxes is you can't move them (as Neal has said before)....but it's easy enough to flag alts, so that's not a big deal. Again...sorry that we (Birdshot) didn't completely & accurately "test" those boxes before the tourney, i.e. using the patented Vandapproach or something along those lines!
More input from the pros is always welcome....and would be even more beneficial to get that kind of input BEFORE the event, as opposed to after.

By the way...I hope you realize that the "apology" in my previous post was halfway tongue in cheek! Hence the winking smiley-face!
Sure, we're "sorry" some people had some slippage....but not all of us have such a rigorous run-up & drive as some of us do! Again....that kind of input would have been nice to have BEFORE the event, instead of insinuating that we (Birdshot) weren't doing an adequate job of making sure everything was good to go. Most of our staff played the new boxes, as we stated, and still believe that they were in 100% better shape than what was there previously.

I talked to the Parks guy yesterday. He indicated he'd been out there Monday to check out the status of the project. He know's it's not complete, but indicated that they would sweep off the excess rubble and that would fix it. Don't know if that is the case, but know they realize they aren't finished and will do their best to get resources directed our way whenever possible. (good municipal talk)

I'm extremely curious to see what the "final glaze" will do....sounds like it will fix the problem, but remains to be seen. If it works, it sure would be a cheaper alternative to concrete....and hopefully we can get HPARD to do the same at other courses (on their own dime!).
