Default Seabrook Parks Plan meeting - Nov 9th

Seabrook’s Parks Plan will be discussed at a City Council workshop at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at City Hall.

The initial draft of the parks plan had Miramar Park expanding to 12 holes in the next three years. The latest draft has a more vague "additional holes have been discussed and should likely be added within four to six years." We need disc golfers in the area to come out to City Hall next week to express our interest and support for upgrades to Miramar.

The park took a beating from Ike and a number of holes were affected. We lost a significant number of trees and even today there are dead and dying trees all over the park. Let's show our enthusiasm and support for our course.

Just wanted to give this thread a bump. The meeting is tonight, I hope we'll see some disc golfers out at city hall.

The meeting was interesting and I was given 4 minutes to speak to the city council. I asked for the opportunity to expand and redesign the course to make it safer. Hurricane Ike's impact on the course made it both easier to play and more likely to impact residential homes along hole 2.

I also asked for speed bumps to be installed on Hammer Street to keep folks from speeding on a road that only passes between two parks.

The Seabrook Parks plan takes time to note that Miramar Park's disc golf course is good for the city, has no complaints and is well maintained by residents who enjoy it.

Big thanks to Chuck Conaway for coming out in support.
