Anything going on in Austin? I figured that disc golf scene would be one of the biggest in the country

I would like to see a tournament at Oal Meadow. Let me know if you would like any help if you choose to have one there.

Hey guys, thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a 2011 schedule following Jack Brooks. I'd really appreciate yall publishing that as soon as possible.
I wasn't able to play all the Birdshot tournaments this year, but I had a great time at Snow Farm, Windwood, Shawshank, and MacGregor. I like Chase's idea about doing a warmup tournament at Shawshank so we can do some testing for the Masters. I'd selfishly love to play it anytime around the Masters, because I'm sure Steve will have the course looking incredible. In terms of ideas for tournaments, here's one crackpot idea: -Playoffs/Final 9's are a ton of fun because of the galleries. My first tournament (Bowling Green Ams) there was a final 9 where a kid named Nikko Locastro was throwing bombs. I remember watching with a crowd of 500 folks and thinking "Wow, disc golf is sweet". I realize final 9's can be a logistical nightmare with so many divisions. Here's an idea: What if at some of the C-tier tournaments, we designated one division that would be having a final 4 holes. One month it might be Pro, another it might be Rec. At the end of the tournament, groups would finish their round, the playoff division would have their cards tallied first, and everyone could watch 4 extra holes of golf while the rest of the scores are compiled. Wouldn't it be fun to Dixon Jowers, Jim Kelly, Matt Hall, and Erik Soete throw some bombs in a Final 4 holes? Wouldn't Rec players get stoked to have 60 people following them around for 4 holes watching them finish their round? Wouldn't it be fun to line up for a putt to win, with everyone watching, and try your not to crap your pants? The "gallery experience" got me hooked when I was a beginner. I could see that happening for more folks getting exposed to tournaments for the first time via Birdshot. Like I said...just a crackpot idea... |

Disc-trapper I think that is a freaking cool crack pot idea... If nothing else, if their is a birdshot tourney scheduled again at Windwood I'd personally like to see it incorporated into the format. If we are on the schedule, I'll see if we can make it happen.. Final 4..

That is a great suggestion, and I myself would love to see a final 9 on the power course at spring valley. Hopefully some rich disc golfer comes out of nowhere and buys it. It sounds like there is some interest for some two day tourneys... Is that the case? Maybe one or two next year.

Love the idea! Rotate through each of the big divisions doing a different one each month. The final holes wouldn't be rated, but Final 9's almost never are. Gives everyone something to do while the scores are being totaled and payout calculated, etc..

Basket to basket. 18 to 17, etc. 1 to 18 sure would be short on the Wilmont. 1 basket to 18 basket on Powell. Some wild and crazy holes for sure.

Telge certainly, as soon as it is ready to play. I hear it is going to be an awesome course.
