Glad you got your power back & hope you had a good birthday...I guess getting your A/C back was a great present! Looking forward to seeing you at Brooks in a couple of weeks...ratings moved me back down to novice so maybe we'll be playing together again!

I have been staying at the hotel where the wife works in Kingwood. It was nice, but I would rather be at home. I need to let my boss know that I need that Friday off, to play on Saturday. I am looking forward to playing that tournament. My nephew might play in it as well.

My family and I are lucky. The power, water, and phone was on when we returned to the Calder Square Apartments in League City Monday afternoon. Our building did not have any structural damage. My wife and I walked the complex and there was a lot of shingles missing and siding ripped off. Sometimes a whole section of siding and wood frame was pulled down next to the stairways. More cosmetic than damage to the apartment themselves though. Waiting on Hitchcock ISD to open up. Closed until further notice. Looks like a short Christmas holidays.

No damage. Got very lucky.

Has anyone seen or know about the Galveston crew?

I called & talked to Jake in Louisiana yesterday....he had gotten in touch with someone who was in his neighborhood who said that he did not get water in the house. He was going to maybe come into town yesterday to do the "look & leave" thing...when I heard that the mayor of Galveston had rescinded the L&L I called & left a message (I hope I saved him a trip!). He told me that Lee DeForke wasn't as lucky & had some damage, but I don't know to what extent.

Thank's for leaving the message Billy. I had come too far not to at least try to get on the island. My Corps of Engineers ID got me pass all 3 check points. Islanders need your thoughts and prayers. I'm sure most of ya'll have seen the photos. I was lucky! My house (and garage housing the stang) did not receive any water damage. It pays to live close to the wall... Lee on the other hand did not fair as well. He got 4' of water in his garage and 1.6' in his house. Yet he is still not ready to leave the island. I fled as soon as I could get the house boarded up and left for Louisiana via the ferry. I got to see bolivar as it was for the last time. OMG the destruction water can cause.

I'll be away for a few weeks as the island is brought back to life. My daughter has to attendent a school new to her next week. We'll be living with my folks for a few weeks maybe more. The island is trashed. Mother nature won! And I didn't even get to surf the thing.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Let in New Orleans, the rebuilding will take time but come Mardi Gras, we'll be partying once again at the Walsdorfs'...

Hope to see you all soon,

Jake

Jake, I'm glad your trip was not wasted....we'll be missing you while you are taking refuge in Louisiana. I'll be calling you about the October 11 tournament at Jack Brooks. Sorry to hear about Lee's place...I hope he's hanging in there.

Thanks for posting Jake...glad to hear your car made it!
Sorry to hear about Lee's home destruction - yuck-what a mess.
My parents atrium almost flooded...spent 7 hours bailing it out during the storm & stayed ahead of it. (oh, my aching back!)
I just got my power back yesterday - yippee.
All in all - our family's homes survived w/o too much damage. We lost 6 big trees & 3 fences.
Still cleaning up, picking up sticks & cutting up the trees...FYI - chainsaws don't cut very good when the chain is on backwards!

It'd be nice to get an assesment of where our club members are, i.e. anyone need help?

I've not seen anything from Nez, Andi and some others. If you have info on players please let us know. I'm freezing blocks of ice (they last a lot longer than bags) and will make food runs if I can this weekend. I'm also helping teachers from our daycare so I've got a good chunk on my plate but will do what I can.
