I don't know about anyone else but if more folks show up maybe we could get the establishment to shut off the music in the meeting room. It was difficult to hear all that was being said the first time around from one end of the table to the other.

At the January 4, 2011 meeting at approximately 7:00 pm at Jax Grill, Mr. Ed, in his duties as Director of Compliance - Sergent-in-Arms called the meeting to Order. It appearing that approximately 19 people were in attendance, Mr. Ed proceeded with the meeting.

Agenda:(1) Regular Monthly Meeting

Old Business:(1) Financial Report HFDS revised Texas States Doubles Payout subtracted from financials, Moffitt Funds zero in Sponsorship of Shawshank for U. S. Masters.
(2) Promotions Report (a) Ice Bowl, considering Raffle 5 Raffle Tickets for signing up, 5 for member at Ice Bowl who brings most new members, and 1 Ticket for Each person you bring to sign-up.
(3) Membership Report Tabled.
(4) Incorp. Status - coordinating with CPA.
(5) T. C. Jester Adopt a Park - Adopt a park still at 10 am on Saturday, Richard F. will set up table at 9:30 am, hospitality committee to set up.
(6) Ice Bowl – Still on February with 9:30am sign-ups and 11:00am Tee-Offs, Ordered Disc Catcher for Ice Bowl approved by acclamation
(7) Army Trail Volunteer days still occurring, just not every Saturday and Sunday, call Chuck H. first and advise if you are coming out to volunteer on a Saturday or Sunday. Andi Y. has his number.
(8) U.S. Masters Neal advised of status. Shawshank needs $500 more for tee-boxes on the portion of course on the neighbor’s property. Needs someone to be in charge of the spotters.
(9) Texas States (a) CHris doing the artwork, (b) need for week of lodging requested by Neal for players coming in from out of town, (c) disc nations sign-ups will be the same.
(10) Change Club Meeting Date to 2nd Tuesday, club votes to table idea as Nez says he no longer has a scheduling conflict with PDGA meeting anymore.
(11) Affiliate Club Membership need a post on message board about how to do it, as appears some have difficulty with user interface.

New Business:(1) ERicJ Appointment to Director of Technology under Article III(C) of Club Charter unanimously approved by vote of membership Eric wants to create (a) a members only area of the message board; (b) on-line membership sign-ups; and (c) a twitter feed.
(2) Maintenance Committee – Chuck C. advises of formation of committee of Birdshot, SW Mini, Northside Mini and HFDS cooperatively to keep the information coordinated to alert the necessary interests of the need to make repairs. Moffitt reforestation what needs to be done?
(3) Day Dreaming About Disc Golf In Houston by Chuck Conaway – Chuck will be writing a book on disc golf and anyone that wants to provide or submit stories and the like or memories associated with a disc that you have he would like to hear from you.
(4) Tuesday Spring Valley Mini this season will become a Northside Handicapped Series Rotating Courses.
(5) Membership Cards - Temporaries given to league directors
(6) Old Storage Unit - need to remove merchandise and move rest of materials to the Container.

(3) Membership Report New directorship needed.
(4) Incorp. Status discussions that 501(c)(4) better than 501(c)(3) because level of compliance overly burdensome. IRS Form 1020?
(5) Ice Bowl – on for Sat.
(6) Old Storage Unit empty. Awaiting final bill.
(7) U.S. Masters Neal advised of status.
(8) Texas States Texas States acct. separate from HFDS account to pay vendors as States Account
(9) Army Trail Report tabled


New Business:(1) SWHC Sponsorship approx. $250 in discs and/or same disc Sponsorship as last year;
(2) Tom Bass request by park for better signs, course maps/pamphlets for park to handout with map and/or scorecard, request by park for upgrade in equipment, discussions of how the club does not have the money to pay for the equipment upgrades

Even though it appears we are without a president at this point, there will still be a meeting at Jax Grill at 7:00 P.M. tomorrow night. I would like to see a good attendance so we can figure out how to proceed from here. We also have States stuff to discuss --- it's getting close.

Anyone who knows Richard knows that describing him as "mild mannered" is an understatement. And anyone who has been around the disc golf scene in the past couple of years is probably aware of the great contribution Richard has made, and continues to make, to the Houston disc golf community. I don't have to imagine what it took to drive Richard to resigning from HFDS; I don't have to imagine because I experienced the same aggravating behavior from someone who brings absolutely nothing to the Houston disc golf community but shame and embarassment year after year.

Richard Fason resigned as President of the HFDS because the HFDS was attacked publicly and Richard, as President of HFDS, took the attack very personally. It's a shame that no one else on the board took it as such. I can admit that some Jo Schmo Rec player storming out of an HFDS meeting might not be such a big deal but your PRESIDENT, just walked out. Hello!!!

But the "disc golfer" in question is just like a child. If there are no consequences to his behavior, apparently "for the good of the disc golf community and what few friends you have left" isn't motivation enough to get him to change that childish behavior.
