Basically it strengthens my belief that the PDGA needs to allocate some of the $200,000 it had added to the treasury for 2010 vs 2009 to supplementing clubs who run Majors for the organization. If the org would triple or more the benefits of running such an event you could expect more areas to place bids which would lead to better events.

Come on Matt... 45 posts on the L'ville thread and you haven't chimed in once yet?
http://louisvillediscgolf.com/forum/...ead.php?t=4431

No bash threads on PDGA forum yet...?

No one-man mission to get the PDGA to change their minds?

Do they already have concrete tees, Discatcher or Chainstar baskets, and more than one good course?

Is Louisville able to provide easy access to the courses and hotels while also providing space on the courses for spectators and possible media coverage?

Depending on those things I may get on there and really raise hell.........but I don't live there and at this moment I don't know much about what they have to offer.

I will still try and find out how many bids were put in for 2012 and likely gripe about the lack of incentive given by the PDGA to clubs who run these events on their behalf.

What kind of incentives does the PDGA give to clubs or hosts of Major events? Anything?

The PDGA will typically provide a financial stipend to the host, to help offset costs associated with running the event. One or more PDGA representatives will also be assigned to work with the host club both before and during the event. PDGA Marshals will also be appointed to assist the host with PDGA related and various other responsibilities and with implementation of PDGA Rules of Play.

States was an A-Tier last year and was staffed by HFDS and Birdshot volunteers.

Because it costs a lot of money to pay for marshals and truthfully most players feel there is little need for any at anything but the largest events.

So it's not really an incentive "given" by the PDGA, they are just providing people and "your" paying those people. That sounds more like an incentive they are giving themselves. Your paying their salaries for a few days.
