Sorry we've been so quiet on the Tuesday Minis this year. It's been a busy one. The first 6 weeks we did a series of rotating venues at different Northside courses. At the end of that series, players were requesting a return to SV for a series. Two weeks ago we returned to SV for the next 6 weeks playing one of the different 18 hole configurations each week. Tonight and for the next 3 weeks, we'll continue playing the Tuesday mini at Spring Valley. Tee Off times are around 5:30. This year Green fees are waived, entry fee is $5, optional Ace Pot is $1 and everyone puts up $1 for the 'Special Projects' fund...that also gets you a mulligan.

To date the Ace Pots collected have been hit twice. Most recently it was hit last Tuesday by TJ Sekula for $85. SV/DGC is seeding the new Ace Pot starting tonight at $20 plus tonight's entries.

The Special Projects Fund is collected to help underwrite area disc golf related projects (new courses, Texas States, etc). It currently stands at $166 as of today. A likely recipient is the Texas Army Trail project. The goal is to raise $500 to sponsor one of the holes. The hole sponsors will be from North Side Disc Golf Organized Play Supporters...or something like that. Houston is such a big city with several 'disc golf groups' conducting 'various types of organized play' that we all agreed a little weekly donation can help fund and upgrade our disc golf facilities. We've all seen it before...Windwood, Jack Brooks, and on...

After this series of single minis at SV, we will likely do another 6 week series of rotated northside venues or it's been suggested to play some doubles events at SV. Please note, for all Tuesday events this year at SV, disc golf green fees are waived in favor of the Special Projects Fund. Hope to see you there sometime soon!

Northside Tuesday Mini is back on the rotating schedule for the next few weeks. We've pushed the tee off back to 6pm. Hope more of you can make it out. Last week we had 19 players at Windwood. Tonight is Northside Christian. Here's the schedule for the next few weeks:

Tonight at Northside Christian
June 28 Timberlane
July 5 Spring Valley
July 12 Terramont
July 19 Plantation
July 26 McDade

Currently the ace pot stands at $102. Special projects fund stands at $241. Last week we donated the $19 project funds collected at Windwood to the Windwood DGC maintenance fund. We appreciate being able to include the location on our rotation.

Tomorrow night (9/27/11) is the final Northside Rotating Tuesday Mini of 2011. The ace pot is currently at $160. For the final night we're playing the Finesse 18 at Spring Valley. The ace pot will be in play for those who opt into it so it will likely be worth more than $160. As a 'just in case it doesn't get hit', we're setting up 4 CTP holes on the course and will divide the ace pot 4 ways between those CTP winners, if there is no ace.

So come get an ace or get you some CTP.

Tee off will start at 5:15 and the last card must go off by 5:30 to play.

Afterwards we're heading to Los Cucos in the Woodlands for some end of the season ritas!

SV Tuesday Mini Resumes...well we started last Tuesday but here are this year's details:

Tuesdays at Spring Valley
Different Configuration each week
Pros $10 / Ams $5
Ace Pot $2
Mulligan (Green Fee/DG Course Improvements) $1
Cash Payout All Divisions
Tee Off 5:30

We may be 'experimenting' with some handicap formats in the near future.
We polled the regular Tuesday players at the end of last season and again last Tuesday and everyone wanted to keep the event at SV. So every Tuesday...SV!

FYI...9 new sleeve placements on the Finesse course are flagged and will be sleeved this month!! More new dg course amenities...benches, wood chips and new tee signs.

Hey our Tuesday Mini is cancelled tonight! It looks like a gully washout could occur about the time we're as far away from the Pro Shop as possible. So no mini tonight. But see you there next week (5/15/12).

And BTW, last week we experimented with a relaxed handicap and all played in 1 division. Everyone got a handicap based on their PDGA rating. Everyone playing had a PDGA rating except one player so we gave him what we figured based on some past scores. Entry was only $5 for everyone from Pro to Rec (plus optional ace and mulli). It turned out pretty cool. Players were given 1 stroke for every 10 points difference in ratings. Not an exact science (aka ERic Jubin's SWHM) , but it works pretty well casually. We had 8 players rated from 917 to 864. Fred Needham won, but if anyone interested in seeing the whole thing, let me know. If the players want to try it again next week, we will.

Spring Valley Tuesday Mini is ON! It's a 'handicap' format (1 stroke per 10 PDGA rating points). $7 to payout/$2 ace pot - optional/$1 mulligan - optional. Ace pot pays 80%. Current ace pot total is $271.00. If you don't have a rating you can still play. You will start out at 1100 and establish one (Thanks Fred...via ERic J.). Note!! All mulligan proceeds collected this year (Tuesday and Sunday minis) go to added payout for Spring Valley Spectacular!! To date we'll be adding at least $420 to SVSVI. Thanks for playing and thanks for supporting Spring Valley disc golf!
