Here are the results from last night's league play.....in the open division Travis Powell came in first this week with a 51, Boo Pearson & Lee DeForke tied for 2nd with a 53, Mike Ynfante came in 4th with a 54 and Cody Carothers flip-flopped from his win last week shooting a 57...all good scores, but that's why they play open! It was just me & Andrew Hernandez in the Rec division last night & Andrew kicked my ass by four strokes shooting a 63 to my 67....it was time for him to win one! We'll get out there & battle the heat again next week for Week Four!

Here are the results from week four of the first summer league...in Open, Cody Carothers & Travis Powell were tied at 49 going into Hole 18...but Travis carded a double on that hole & Cody parred, so Cody took 1st with the 49, Travis in 2nd with a 51, Jake Walsdorf came in 3rd shooting a 52 & Lee DeForke gave up some strokes with a 60. On the Rec card, I took 1st with a 62, Chris Gomez took 2nd with a 66 & Andrew Hernandez finished up with a 70. This was our first oppurtunity to test out the new concrete boxes on the Gulf Meadows side with muddy surroundings & I have to say that although the mud is still a drag (and we kinda dirtied up the boxes scraping our shoes on the sides) what a great thing it was being able to tee off without possibly doing a somersault & landing on your ass! I'm sure the sentiment would be the same on the new course as well, especially since there's so much more elevation change over there & more chances to muddy up your shoes....yay for concrete!

I just realized that I hadn't posted last week's results yet! In Open, Travis Powell shot a smokin' 48 for 1st place, Boo Pearson was hot on his heels with a 49 for 2nd, Lee DeForke & Michael Ynfante tied for 3rd both shooting a 53, Cody Carothers took 5th with a 57 & Jake Walsdorf brought up the rear shooting a 61. In our little Rec division, yours truly pretty much put a lock on top spot shooting a 60 (hey, I beat Jake!), Andrew Hernandez came in 2nd with a 64 & Chris Gomez came in 3rd shooting a 69! Tomorrow is the final week of this session & payout...we'll take a vote to see whether everyone wants to skip a week before starting up again (I say we start right back up next week!). The next session we're going to play over on the new course, but for time & energy's sake we will only be playing 15 holes...we're going to skip holes 15, 16 & 17 which are out in the open & slightly long & time consuming. That way we can be sure to finish before dark & before the parks people run us out! See you guys tomorrow afternoon!

Yeah, meet you at hole one basket where I'll be practicing my putt.

Who do I have to beat tonight to screw them up from making payout?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who employs this strategy.

Here are last night's results....in Open, Travis Powell smoked 'em again with a 48 for 1st place, Jake Walsdorf made a comeback for 2nd with a 52, Mike Ynfante shot a 53, Lee DeForke shot a 54 & Cody Carothers shot a 61. In Rec, Andrew Hernandez came in 1st with a 62, I shot a 63 & Chris Gomez shot a 65. For the end of the six weeks Travis had a solid four wins for 40 points for 1st place and $65, Cody came in 2nd with 34 points & $35 and Lee beat Mike by half a point with 32 points for 3rd & $20. In Rec, I ended up with 39 points for 1st place and $40...and Andrew was just one point behind me with 38 points and $20. We are NOT going to take a week off before starting up again, so if you're interested in some great league competition come on out to the NEW course next week for a new six week session on Cedar Hills. The pros think they can play all 18 holes in plenty of time, but we all still think it would be best if we can start by 5:30 rather than 6:00. Cedar Hills is a much longer, more technical course...us Rec players might just be playing 15 holes in order to finish before dark...we'll have to play it by ear & see how it goes. Remember...$20 for six weeks....drop your two worst games (or miss two weeks)...cash payout to the top half of each division at the end of the six weeks! Hopefully Mike Arrellano can make it back out this time & bring some intermediate/advanced players with him to make a division...or if some more of you Rec players want to join Andrew, Chris & myself to make that division a little bigger...we would love to see as many people as possible!
