Version 1.2.6 released today on Android Market. Updates include:
  • DG rating is now calculated on rounds from the past 180 days (previously it was just your past ten rounds).
  • Ability to mark a round as a "practice round", i.e. it won't count in your rating/handicap calculation. Currently you can only do this before a round starts. A future update will enable you to mark past rounds as "practice".
I've recently discovered "Labels" in the app. They're like little colored tags that you can put on rounds to easily identify them and sort/filter on them. I've got labels defined for "Doubles", "PDGA Tourney", "Unsanctioned Tourney", and "Handicap Mini". Good stuff.

Do you have to have internet access while you're using it? I have a tablet with WiFi only.

You do not need to have internet access to use it while scoring a round.

Internet access is useful to have at some point to download the courses you'll be playing to get distances and SSA values (for Houston area courses). But once you have those downloaded the only other thing internet would be used for is e-mailing results or getting the local weather info.

Easyscorecard.net has been updated with the new laser distances for 21-hole TC Jester. Feel free to "refresh" your course listing to get the new values.

There was one problem with that... especially for tourney play where the start order on the first hole is specified by the event. ESC only had options to set the start order on the first hole by "lowest handicap", "highest handicap", or "random". So it would sometimes take a while before ESC matched up with the order you had in a tourney.

I got the developer to add an option to manually specify the start order on the first hole. You'll need to download the latest version (1.2.8b) to get the feature.
  • New – Added a new option to manually specify starting order during a new round. Goto Settings and ‘First Hole Playing Order’ item to change this.
Also the previous version (1.2.8a) added this nice feature:
  • New [Pro] – Have you ever played with strangers, and you just want to track stats (putts/fwy/bunker) for yourself and not the strangers? Now you can! When starting a new round, you have an option to only ‘Track Stats For Myself’. You will still be able to track scoring for other players.

I edited the easyscorecard.net entry for MacGregor Park to correct some distances and tweak the SSA based on yesterday's tourney results. The SSA dropped a bit with the loss of trees out there.

If you're an EasyScorecard Pro user, you can "refresh" the course to pick up the changes.

Updated the Oak Meadow SSA's with the now official values from last month's C-Tier.

I added a new tee set to the Tom Bass Wilmont entry for the Birdshot Backwards layout to be played Oct/Nov 2011. Laser accurate distances.

If you're an EasyScorecard Pro user, you can "refresh" the course to pick up the changes from easyscorecard.net.

Lightbulb Re: Easy Scorecard for Android

Version 1.2.9c was released with support for multiple pin positions.

The course listings on EasyScorecard.net for TAT, Shawshank, and NCC have all been updated with their respective pin distances. If you're an ESC Pro user you can download or refresh those course listings to get the updates.

If you use ESC to track a round on a course with multiple pins, when you get to a hole with multiple pins there will be a box that says "No Pin". Tap on that box and you'll get a pop-up with the available pin positions from which to choose.

Obviously with the variability of multiple pin positions, storing an SSA (i.e. generate ratings) for such courses is a very gross approximation. Of course a static SSA is an approximation to begin with.... After the round you can tap the "Properties" to get to the "Advanced Options" page where you can override the default SSA if you'd like.
