Despite some incredibly gusty winds on Sunday, the first Day-of-Mini was a great success. We had 35 folks show up to play and raised $235 towards the course in League City. The 18 hole course was intended to be a challenge in normal wind conditions; on Sunday it was insane.
I'd like to thank Andy Wright, Chris Vandagriff, Dax Nutt, Jason Quinn, Jarrod Belk, Doug Sullivan and Cody Carrothers for bringing out their baskets to help make the event a success. Also, many thanks to Billy Gilbert for helping with everything and Melissa for taking care of sign-ups. This event couldn't have happened without y'all. Results: Chris Vandagriff took first in Adv/Open with a 55, setting a course record that will never be broken. He was followed by Michael Ynfante in 2nd with 56. Charles Worster, Jimmy Solsbee and Randy Roland tied fro third with 58 and Dax Nutt and ERic Jubin tied for 6th with a 59. In Intermediate Ron Lantier, who drove in from Kingwood, took first with a 56. Crazy Rob Beihle took second with a 58. Aaron Shaffer and Clint McCollom tied for third with a 61. James Nindiffer took 5th with a 64, Marty Berry took 6th with 65 and Thomas Samson came in 7th with a 66. In Rec course resident Doug Sullivan took first with a 58. Andrew Baldwin came in 2nd with a 64 and I took third with a 66. Nick Saenz played Novice and won his division with a 75. Thanks to Doug Sullivan & Randy Roland for donating their winnings towards the new course too! The next Day-of-Mini will be October 2nd on the old Clear Lake Golf Course and we'll have a new course set up for everyone. If you can bring a basket, please let me know. On October 9th I'm going to run a $5 fundraiser mini at TLV for the second anniversary of that course going in. I'm currently looking for prize donations for that event as we can't give out cash at TLV. Let me know if you can donate something. |

This Sunday October 2nd we will be running the 2nd Day-Of Mini at the Clear Lake Golf Course....Chris is on his way back from San Francisco tomorrow but wanted to go ahead & post up the information. Just like last time, we will need everyone who can bring a basket to get in touch & let us know.....plan on meeting at the same parking lot at 2:30 to find out where your basket needs to go & hopefully we'll get started playing around 3:30 again! You can either reply to this thread or look for info on the Birdshot Facebook page & communicate with us there...hope to see another good crowd out there!

Excellent. We're up to 8 good baskets out there and we'll put in Billy's traveler if need be. If you've got a basket and can make it out there on Sunday at 2:30, please let me know. If you need directions, here's a map.
We're going to be playing the big triangle around the old driving range on Sunday with dual tees for each basket in a more traditional 9 hole layout. There will be dual island tees over OB on one of the holes. There is also a big fairly open 800' hole and five holes under 300' including what I've been calling "Birdie Alley". We're looking at about 6500' in total length, but it may go longer. I'm also bringing in a few holes from the Day-of-Course III layout. The weather looks great for the mini. I hope everyone can make it out and help support the new course in League City. Also, don't forget that next weekend we're going to play a donations only mini at TLV. We've got some prizes for the winners but otherwise it's just going to be a fundraiser for the new course. |

Billy wrangled up a few more baskets so we're going to be playing a 20 hole course on Sunday, and have a practice basket! There are three long holes and a seven that are 300' or less. Looks like the weather will be perfect.

$15 entry - $10 to payout and $5 to the new course in League City. Last time we raised $235 - let's try to beat that tomorrow! |

Billy & I walked the course this morning and marked where the tees and baskets are going to be. The total length of the course is about 7,500' with two monster holes (815' & 575') and five under 300'. It looks like it's going to be a fun course. Here's a map:

We had 17 folks compete in the mini yesterday and raised $150 towards the course in League City. The course was long and fun with a few challenging holes. Bubba Berry claimed the best score ever for the course with a 56, 7 under par. Cody took the prize for most OB strokes on one hole with a staggering 5 circles on hole 13.
Thanks to folks who donated their winnings towards the course. The next Day-of-Mini will be on November 13th. Billy and I are moving start time forward to 1:30pm because of the time change. I'll have more details on the course as the date approaches. |

November's Day-of-Mini will take place next Sunday at the old Clear Lake Golf Course with sign-up starting at 1:30 and starting at 2pm. We're kicking the start time forwards to make sure there's enough light for the round. Once again, the cost is $15 each with $5 going to the League City basket fund and $10 going to payout.
This time around we're going to be playing a course designed by Andy & Joe Wright of Seabrook. Should be a lot of fun and, as always, some good disc golf! |
