Feb 4-5th. It's approved by the state coordinator and in the process of being sanctioned. Please consider volunteering if you are not of the correct age or enrollment bracket. Saturday will be at Mozola and Sunday will finish at Jester with a morning round and hopefully be done at noon. More details to follow, but plan for coming and hanging out Saturday night for the Plastic Fantastic swap meet!

Probably an XB tier. Not sure. Players pack will be around the a tier level, but players and sanctioning fees are alot higher for an a-tier.

Foreword:
Thank you for being a part of the Texas State High School Championships. By looking at this site you have helped in even a small way with this tournament. My goal is to help nurture the competition for this age group so that they have a chance to compete against other kids their age for more than just once a year at worlds. We all love this sport and the kids are going to carry it forward long after we are gone. Format: We will have a singles and a team winner crowned at the end of the weekend. Singles: This will consist of 2 rounds at Mozola Memorial Course on Saturday February 4th. Team element: each team must have at least two players compete in Saturday and Sunday's rounds. (Teams can be larger than two but need to be in multiples of two please) The top two singles scores from each round will count towards the teams overall score. That will be added to the top team score from Sunday's round to award an overall team winner. (Any team with more than two competitors will have the best scores used toward the teams score) Eligibility to play: So that we are compliant with the PDGA tour standards this will be an FJ1 divisional event. ( this allows us to not have to charge a non pdga membership fee). Also, you must be currently enrolled in a Tx based high school or home school program. For the team element: Your team can be comprised of students from a singular school, or if you can't come up with two students from the same school, then the team can represent a Disc Golf Club. (this covers home schoolers). Please bring teams with multiples of two so that everyone gets to play on Sunday that wishes to. Saturday night we will have a special treat for everyone. Plastic Fantastic will be a chance for the kids to buy/sell/TRADE! discs with friends and vendors. We will also hopefully have dinner and some other cool stuff like a putting competition for the kids at this event. Vendors please contact me * about table availability.

Patrick, Just to be clear...
A player can play Saturday only for the singles event, correct? I know of one guy that would likely be interested. Not sure there is another highschooler around here that would be interested in tourney play for him to form a team with. Let me know so I can pass the word along to him. Thanks. |

On your first question, yes they can play Saturday only for singles. There will be no cost difference just to make it easy. Thanks for your interest and please ask all the questions you can think of. It will help me remember to post all the info.

Alright working out signup's right now. I will have links in the next couple of days for online registration. If you want to sign up ahead of time please pm me. I'll have an address and who to make the checks out to soon.
Registration will be $30 and that covers your entry for the singles and/or team entry. Each person will have to pay the $30 but that get's you what is becoming a very nice players pack. This will be an XB-tier, so awesome players packs and amenities. I need a couple of clubs to step up and help me out. I will be contacting you for sure. Tournament will crown both a team, and singles state champions. The format will be 2 rounds of 21 holes at Mozola Memorial Course in the shadow of downtown Houston Saturday the 4th of February, and one round of 21 holes of doubles/team play Sunday morning at the newly redesigned TC Jester Park. Teams need to be in multiples of two. The team winner will be determined by adding the two lowest scores from Saturdays rounds to the lowest round from the Sunday round. A team can have multiple doubles groups competing and we will take the lowest score for the team score. The singles winner will be determined from Saturday's rounds only. Players can play either day, entry fee is the same. (they will get the same awesome players pack) So if you have someone that can't play saturday but can sunday...bring them on and let them help the team out. Lastly for tonight- This tournament is for the future of our sport, the kids. Please consider sponsoring this tournament in whatever way you see fit. I will gladly take merch or money. Anything and everything will be greatly appreciated. Hole sponsorships start at $25 and I have 42 available right now. Your name/logo/info will be on display on a nice bandit sign at the tee box for all to see. There is also a Shirt sponsorship available to anyone interested. This will get your name/logo on the sleeve of the shirt in the players pack. This is only available to 1 sponsor and first come first serve. The shirt sponsor level is $500. If i can get enough sponsorships this will go in every players pack and to every staff member. Thanks for your considerations and support. Lets do this right and show these kids how we feel about them.

Alright, the last post was a copy from what i posted on the PDGA. So specifically from Houston, i am going to need help on the days of the tournament specifically to help keep track of the kids and help them navigate the course properly and timely. If anyone has a hookup on some people willing to provide food for Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, or sunday Lunches that would be awesome.

Online Registration is up:
http://www.iregisteredonline.com You can also register with me in person or pm me for my address and mail it too me. If any local considering playing this will sign up early i'll make it worth your while. We need to get some names up quickly on the pdga page so others will start to take notice. In other business i will need help with volunteers for both saturday and sunday. It'll mostly be helping with course flow and helping with any card calls. Also the biggest job will be getting baskets out for the Tinsley side of Mozola on Saturday. If you can help,or have a basket we can borrow that day, please contact me and i'll start an email list with those involved and keep a running total of who's doing what. If you do help Sunday, rest assured that we will be done and walking away by 1pm to get everyone home for the game. Thanks in advance to everyone who is helping out with this tournament. Lets do this right for the kids, and hopefully when we're all playing legends, these guys will be doing all of the tournament running for us!
