OK, obviously I've gone about this in a manner that may belittle the work of graphic designers, which was not my intent at all. So let's try this again:
OK, we are in need of a logo for the 17th Texas State Disc Championships on 17-18 March 2012. We hope to make this a multi-disc sport discipline event, and a celebration of disc sports in general. Here are the details of what we are looking for: · A logo in .eps format, with all elements in vector format (no rasterized images etc.). · A Logo that looks good in both full color and a black-white design, not gray scale. · A Logo that includes "17th Texas State Disc Championships" in logo. Note that the word "golf" is NOT included in the title · A Logo that includes "2012", "Houston-Galveston, Texas" and "Jack Brooks Park" in the logo · A Logo that is themed around the St. Patrick's Day holiday that is being held on the same weekend · A Logo that can be built around a theme of the general use of a disc for sports activities, and/or following key disc sports: disc golf, ultimate, freestyle and/or canine disc · The Logo can be co-themed around the beach-spring break week that is also the week of the event, and the Galveston area which is hosting the championship · Logo should be confined in a circular region, for most easy use in disc hot-stamping. · Logo may need to be co-branded with a title sponsor's name, to incorporate any title sponsor's name within same theme/font/style in a ring area surrounding the circular region. We are looking for graphic designers interested in working with us to develop this event logo. If you or your team is interested, please send your qualifications and proposal to dave@texasstates.org for consideration. We will accept proposals until 6pm on 16 December 2011. There is no guarantee this work will be awarded. Here are some examples of past event logos ![]() ![]() ![]()

Dave,
I respectfully request that you do not associate a 'design contest' with Texas State Disc Golf Championship. Design contests may seem like a good way to get free design work but they belittle the professional value that a graphic designer can bring to an event like this. The American Institute of Graphic Arts and the Graphic Artists Guild both recommend that their members not participate in these sorts of 'contests.' As someone who worked for many years as a graphic designer I feel that this contest will not benefit the event. The local disc golf community has a number of very talented artists who would be more than happy to develop a logo, possibly even as a pro-bono project. You would not ask t-shirt screen printers to 'compete' with their labor so why show designers disrespect for their skills? Instead of belittling the work of all who submit their design effort in a 'contest,' please put out an RFP for a pro-bono project. Please visit this site for more information: http://www.no-spec.com/design-contests/ |

Two courses or three? Just wondering since the Tournament Powell lost all the holes by the BG course with the construction of the dog park. |

Still three (3) courses. We have a little redesigning to do, and trying to confirm with Precinct One what space we can do it in.
