If I have never played in a tournament how do I know which division to sign up for? I will not be able to play tomorrow but am interested in doing some tournaments sometime this year.

When will things get going tomorrow? After 10?

HTown - once you play in your first sanctioned tournament, you will likely get a player rating. That rating will tell you which division you will be competitive in. Likely in your first couple of tournaments, you will play in the Recreational division. As you progress, your rating will increase and you will likely be "forced" to play in a higher division. Each of the PDGA dvisions (except Open) has upper has a limit on the highest rating allowed to play in that division. You always have the option to play up in divisions should you choose. Generally, the higher the division the more the entry fee is, so most folks like playing as low as possible. Once you are over 40 years old, then you get into the "age-protected" dvisions. Masters are folks over 40, Grandmasters are over 50, and Senior is over 60.

A lot of newer players might choose to play up in their division(s) in order to get valuable experience by playing (and learning from) better players.

Tomorrow's tourney is a charity fund-raiser for the Houston Food Bank. It isn't quite as formally structured as a PDGA sanctioned tournament. I'm not even sure if there is a difference in entry fees since pretty much all proceeds go to the charity anyway. It is one of the cheapest entry fee tourneys you could ever get into. If you can catch Conrad during the last of December and first week of January, you can order REALLY cheaply priced discs. They have a selection of different quality plastics and stamps.

If you can make it, come play in the one tomorrow. You'll have a blast.
