I'm over 40 and not competitive in open, so there's no way I'd pay full price to play in a division that I don't have a hope of cashing in if it only pays 75% of entry fees after skimming fees. |

My bad on the poll...I guess my point was why was there a sliding scale for MPO but not one for age protected? But you're right, it does skew the poll a bit. I guess all of this "skimming" has made my mind stop working right, JimG...and where were you getting that 75% number? Doesn't matter...whatever you're trying to do to tarnish our reputation isn't going to work...the players who come to our tournaments know better!

And to answer the first question, I believe the sliding scale for MPO is encourage MPM and Advanced (and MPG and FPO) to play up instead of hiding out in a small division. Doing the same for MPM would defeat the original purpose. |

Correct, that was one of the goals.

But the timing of the origination of the sliding scale is important to this discussion. When it began, we were only having 4-6 playing open, with good enough players hanging out in masters and advanced. The idea was to encourage the move to open. After having played several tournaments in open alot of these guys are comfortable. As Griff has pointed out, the group of players willing to play open has grown substantially.
The sliding scale was useful to solve a temporary problem. The problem is gone, therefore the sliding scale isn't needed anymore. |

If the HPO III is going to be AM only, wouldn't the name change to HPAM I?

Sliding scale will not be used at the TC Jester tournament. 100% payout also.
