Same as every other non added cash tournament... after fees. (not including management fees)
There is nothing we can do about what the pdga charges except hope that you run for the board and get the PDGA to drop all their fees too. It's one hundred percent payout from the entry fee. What you pay to play a tournament is an entry fee and other fee's necessitated by having the rounds be official sanctioned rounds. Part of our mission was to provide sanctioned tourneys in Houston, so we abide by the requirements as such. There are plenty of mini's for you to frequent if you don't like paying a little extra for services provided. Now can we please let this go...

It was a simple question, not an attack. I just wanted to know 100% of what. Thanks.

I guess maybe because it was the third time you brought it up it felt a little like an attack. It's the same everywhere. We also only charge $2 for online reg unlike most places that take out $5-$10. They pocket that extra money. Average at least 50 players that pay online @$3 extra and that's $1, More than we take for the management fee. (which we are not taking at jester) so ask the other questions too.

Folks that have run tournaments should be familiar with the PDGA fees and tournament expenses. However, players that only play tournaments aren't. If Joe Player pays $30 to enter a tournament and it's advertised as "100% payout" he could realistically expect $30 of that $30 to be paid back out. Saying "entry fee" is ambiguous. Even the PDGA breaks that down into gross "entry fee" and net "entry fee". The Birdshot website says: "*All entry fees include a $2 PDGA fee & a $2 online registration fee."... so if you're advertising paying 100% of the "entry fee" one could rightly expect the PDGA and online fees to be paid out. We're reaching a fine line in truth in advertising vs. overly complex registration forms that the average player may not care about. |

It's not the same everywhere. I've run plenty of PDGA tournaments and paid back 100% including the PDGA and Series fee with no added cash. I did it by buying discs at wholesale, distributing them at retail and using the difference to cover expenses. It's a pain in the ass, but it can be done. I also usually manage to get my own entry fee covered and maybe lunch for assistant TDs.
I've also run tournaments where we had to pay a facility fee, and if I didn't have sponsorship to cover that, then I made it clear on the flyer that that money was separate from the entry fees. |

To my way of thinking, if I pay $30 to enter a tournament and it advertises 100% payout, then I am expecting that all $30 of my entry fee is going into payout. That means that some else covered my PDGA entry fee and any "facility" fees.
If the PDGA fee isn't covered, then it isn't 100% payout. Now as far as what the PDGA considers as payout percentage on their TD report, it DOES allow for deducting the PDGA fees etc. but that isn't 100% of the entry fee in my book...it is what the PDGA considers as 100% (which of course excludes their fees. - how coincidental.) I haven't seen where anyone advertised 100% payout, but I'm guessing that it was wrong if it was posted that way. Where is it posted as being 100%?

Chuck, who is covering the PDGA fees? Many thanks to whomever is covering those fees!!! This is awesome!!! I've been watching the Birdshot website for the online registration for this one, but haven't seen it yet. I hope I'm not missing it!
