In pdga santioned tournaments you are supposed to have to play with people in your own division when at all possible. Was it fair to the guys chasing Tracey to not have an opportunty to play with the person who was beating them?

You can't just DECIDE to break up a division's placement on cards to facilitate girls playing together.
I'm with Sue on this one. "At least of for the second round." Sanctioned events should be following the rules:

804.06 Grouping and Sectioning
A. Professional and Amateur players should not be grouped together, and all players from different divisions shall be segregated from each other during play as much as practicable.
B. All players within a division should be randomly grouped for the first round and grouped by cumulative score for each round thereafter.

And the reason I speak out, is I believe there is room for change aka enlightenment for the powers that be, and the only way they learn is by being made aware that what they are doing is not considered correct.

And I think I'll just not read this board anymore, as any disent is squashed. This mob mentality choses to do things their own way, whether right or not.
Sue, In this scenario there is a clear rule by which to define "right or not". In my opinion you are completely justified in bringing this issue up. And you are correct that there is room for enlightenment by all.

As for dissent, I think "hotly contested" may be more accurate than "squashed".

Absolutely!!!

I agree.

Chuck please pay attention to 804.06.B

When the computer crashed before the second round, Chuck's initial statements were to send everyone out to the same tee box that they started Round one from. Some cards had already been handed out before I jumped in and told him that he can't do it that way. It took me about 2 minutes to completely sort the score-port and display all of the cards on their proper hole assigments by score.

Chuck - I apologize that I wasn't able to properly explain this to you at the time, but I wanted to get the situation straightened out for you before any more cards got handed out. After that it just got too hectic to address it with you.

You guys really should get a better handle on what "things" can be changed in running a sanctioned tournament, and what things can't. I'm pretty sure that you had to pass an Official's test, right? Did you miss some parts of rulebook or what?

I wasn't aware of what was happening with Tracy competing in Rec but not playing with them. That is a BIG no-no with someone leading a division! Tell me it isn't true!!!

First and foremost I want to say that by no means did I suggest this. This was brought to my attention by Andi that she wanted to play with other females so we were to play on the same card. That was Birdshots call to allow this when asked. LET ME ALSO STATE THAT I WAS PERFECTLY FINE PLAYING WITH MY DIVISION. I knew that when I signed up for Novice that I would be playing with the guys as well. It was at the tournament when I was led to a different layout.

And Not that it matters now but I was playing with Tiffany the whole time so I was playing with someone else in my division.

I emailed the spreadsheet to Karolyn Garlock of PDGA to ask her to upload the scores. No, could not upload the spreadsheet here. I think you can see it at the Birdshot website. On the homepage, go to the red 2008 Greater Houston Championship Series link, then click on Results by the Bring Your Floata to Mozola.
The results are now posted to PDGA:

Note that the PDGA numbers (and thus PDGA ratings) are wrong for almost everyone listed....

I know. I put these up on a new system and thought they drop shipped straight from the shop. I've gotten two orders which I'll have to figure out how to deliver but I'm obviously going to have to find another place to have them printed. Since no shipping was charged, it will take all the profit plus some to mail them out... So I'll actually end up in the hole... Even without a business degree, I know that's not a good business practice. I'm doing my research on good print shops that drop ship. I'll get the kinks worked out. The only place I know of that sends quality prints costs $150 a year for an account and at that rate, I'd have to charge more for each print... not something I want to do. But no worries, I'm on it.

I was "officially" in charge of the Mozola tournament & I must confess that I have not yet taken the test. If we did anything against the rules then I take the blame although it was not intentional & not like I don't care about whether or not we're doing it right. I was under the impression that if there are not enough players in a division to make a card then we could mix them up...although it does make sense, now that I know about it, that open should not be on a card with ams. My BIG mistake & thanks for pointing it out. We'll hopefully not ever do that one again....and Tracy is completely & totally innocent of all charges made against her (lol)...Billy

But, you knew you weren't playing on a card with the people in your division that were behind you in score. How do you think Nicole felt, you girls left here over there and went and played with the big girls.........

Shame on you and SHAME ON ANDI who SHOULD know better. Isn't she a Marshall?

I just feel that we've got a bunch of people with good intentions that don't have any interest in the rules......they just do what they think.

I'm not making charges, but trying to point out things that your players should have pointed out to you. We know that Tracy, Jen and Andi all play enough events to know that Novice should have been two cards of three, and maybe split Jen to one of those cards, and Andi to the other.

I didn't say you were making charges, Sue...I was making a joke about what Tracy said about not having anything to do with it...jeez!!! If more players like you who have been doing this for a while WOULD participate and give us this input before the fact, then maybe we could make Birdshot better. Chuck & I had never run tournaments before & before Birdshot I had only played in a handful of them. We just had a vision of having sanctioned tournaments in Houston where nobody else had been doing them for nearly two years. We thought/think we were/are doing the local disc golf community a favor! Yes, we need to be doing this right...but don't insinuate that we are bending rules or making them up to serve our own means...that's simply not the case. Everybody out there who has been following this pow-wow over the past few days/daze.....HEAR MY PLEA! Help us make these tournaments we're trying to do here WORK THE WAY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK!!! And let's have some fun...please!...Billy
