Moffitt Tee Boxes

1. discussion of #17 and #18, the polling conducted on hfds.org and also on Facebook and the impending walkway and tree loss, and the club voted to approve Derek L.'s proposed change of #17 and #18 posted on this message board. Without other alternatives in writing for the club to review, cannot vote on them.
2. waiting on City legal to approve the contract with the contractor before installation can begin

New Sign/Map for Bass ready need to get in touch with Andi Y. about printing

Texas States Club votes to accept Vincent M.'s proposal with provision of a letter agreement to confirm the specific terms like TxStates name trademark for 2013 use only, meaning only a one year engagement for Vinnie M. to use TxState Brand

Moffitt Tee Boxes

1. Concrete Boxes are installed. Many thanks to Derek L. for his efforts in supervising installation.
2. Club votes in recognition of Derek L.'s supervising and coordinating the tee-box installation a 5 year club family for him and Stefani L. and additional recognition on message board and to reimburse Larry K. to get a framed certificate of recognition to give to Derek L. in thanks for his efforts in supervising and coordinating the installation of the tee-boxes at Moffitt. Also a letter of recognition and thanks will be drafted by Larry K. and Conrad J., recognizing Houston Parks & Rec., Houston Parks Board, Councilwoman Helena Brown as well as Derek L. Dave B. to get a disc signed by disc golfers wanting to express their thanks to Derek. See David B. to sign the disc.

Texas States Larry K. will be liason with Vinnie M. regarding communications on status of TxStates2013 as things progress. Discussions of whether Vinnie M. may need additional support from HFDS.

2. Moffitt Winter League - Conrad says he will start the league at Moffitt for the first league, and also he may float it to Jester for the 2nd league.

Wow, thanks everyone, Stefani and I appreciate it very much! I'm glad things turned out well at Moffitt and the players seem happy with the new boxes. This is a big win for HFDS and the players so I'm glad that I could help.

Membership Report 106 Members

Promotions Report Thanks to Larry K. for re-upping the club and donating the affiliation fee for PDGA Club Affiliate Status of HFDS. HFDS members get $5.00 discount when they sign up on line and indicate HFDS affiliation

Moffitt Tee Box additional sponsorship pledge received. If sufficient tee-box sponsorship HFDS will likely seek an upgrade of the tee-signs to DGA signs rather than the 4 x 4 posts. Still $3,000 short of the fundraising goal. Tee-box sponsorships still needed.

New Map/Sign At Tom Bass ERic’s punch list for Richard R. design minor detail changes. Jeff M. advises that both maps can be printed on both sides of an 8.5 x 11 and looks really good. Richard F. to follow up with Dave N. [As of the writing of these minutes, Dave N. has followed up with Richard R. about the punch list items and has presented a revised draft to incorporate punch list items.]

Texas States tabled until Larry K. can be present as he is liason with Vinnie M. However, Texas States is a National Tour Event for March 15th-17th, 2013

Trees Replanting at Moffitt Parks and Rec. says MacGregor will get replanting 1st, next plating at MacGregor is Nov. 16th, Derek L. to supervise

Mozola Course Expansion The changes to Buffalo Bayou park are scheduled to be complete at the end of 2014, whatever expansion that may happen may have to wait until then. Derek L. making inquiry.

New Course like Inwood/Alabonson/George Bush Park Nothing new to report at this time

Double Disc Court every Wednesday at 5:30 until the spring time change
New Business:

1. Sponsorship Requests $100 to Birdshot’s Texas States Doubles at Snow Farm, $100 sponsorship to Birdshot./DG Pro Shop if they are offering another Banner Sponsorship this year for the 2013 Tournament Series.
2. Ice Bowl Conrad J. has registered us for it. Tentative date for Ice Bowl is February 2nd
3. Moffitt Show tentative date March 9th Jeff M. to inquire with Larry K. and will advise and confirm the date.
4. Concrete for Jester discussions that boxes would have to be longer and should expect more than $200 per box, at $300 per box would be over $12,000. Pointed out that if the layout of the park deviates and we invest money in concrete, we may lose the value of the box if the city removes the box for other use. Counter-point is that if we make tee-boxes permanent the city is less likely to make an alteration of the park that would negatively affect the tee-boxes.
5. Course Map at Moffitt Someone took down the aluminum sign course map. Unknown who took it down. Will need a new sign. ERic will measure the new distances for Moffitt before a new map is made.
6. Alternate Pin Placements at Moffitt eventually look at that sometime this coming year

Financial Report reviewed and approved, $10,587.00 as club treasury, not including $261 Jester Basket Fund and $502 Moffitt Show Fund, note Jim G. running of Handicapped Mini at Mozola DGC generated $91 for club and added $91 to Mozola Ace Pot

Promotions Report need to promote the good things club does in order to facilitate membership as part of Membership Drive

Moffitt Tee Box discussions of additional persons to directly solicit with the Sponsorship letter

New Map/Sign At Tom Bass Andi Y. will get with Nez about getting copies of the actual art files

Texas States Things are going as expected per latest email update from Vinnie M.

1. Sponsorship Requests $250 now to Birdshot/DG Pro Shop for the 2013 Tournament Series and another $250 after Moffitt Show
2. Winter League will move to Jester for 6 week league, Conrad J., TD
3. Kingwood DGC some of baskets were on private property and needed to be moved and also dead trees needed to be removed, so all baskets have been pulled, however, looks like course will be redesigned and reinstalled
