eta: That's assuming payout is 100% of entry plus ERic's announced added payout (100% of entry fees minus registration, PDGA and series fee).
thats pretty sweet!!!

Eric - I might need a little help understanding how that "main ditch" OB stuff works. That ditch comes into play on holes #1 through #5. Will it be strung? Both tees on #1 start on the "other side" of the ditch from the basket as well as R2 #2 and R1 #5. I know that it frequently comes into play on #3 as discs skipping near the basket always tend to fly down into the ditch somewhere...this is a change from years past, right?

Thanks.

Fixed math above.
If you're doing traditional tourney math you need to add in retail value of the average player pack (disc + lunch) $23 / player.

That makes the Pros ~208% and the Ams 316%.

Yes this is a change from last year and how it's played in the Southwest Handicap Mini. Playing the ditch & beyond as OB turns some pretty easy holes into holes where you have to have much better control of your tee shots and puts some serious though into how you putt at baskets #3-5. We've play tested the course several times and the feedback has all been good. The front nine now has some teeth.

The ditch is strung. The stringing crew was out there today putting down almost a mile worth of string.

Teeboxes that are on the wrong side of the ditch have been declared "in-bounds islands" from which you may legally throw. If you fail to cross over the ditch in-bounds you must re-tee with penalty (the exception is #5 which has a DZ for all OB tee shots).

Thanks for a very well run, tournament gang! The weather was perfect out there - hard to believe it's still January.

I've got to say without hesitation, a HUGE thanks goes out to Eric Jubin for this fun and challenging layout. You asked us this afternoon before the 2nd round, what we thought about it. I like it a lot ERic...good mix of holes, long and short, wide open and tight, and tricky OB every where. Maybe it's just me, but I really enjoy a course that makes me think about placement. I reluctantly agree with the OB string line down the ditch...it made it a LOT harder.

Thanks to all of the staff and sponsors. Your contributions are what gives us such a fun time. I can't wait til next year already.

I want to add that it was really nice we had all foursomes. No extra cards, or fivesomes to slow the field down. The rounds went very smoothly. The only place I saw any kind of backup was the 600' hole. And even that wasn't too bad (that I saw).

Exclamation Non-PDGA members

If you aren't a PDGA member and had to pay the $10 charge to compete in a PDGA sanctioned event like the Sugar Land Showdown, that entitles you to a PDGA Supporting membership.

To collect that benefit head on over to http://www.pdga.com/supporting and fill out the necessary information. You'll receive a PDGA number, mini marker disc, and rulebook... or you can get a $10 discount on a full membership to get those things plus a membership card, PDGA logo disc, and subscription to "Disc Golfer" magazine.
