The Woodlands wants to take far too much of the earnings from events held here.
I've wanted to have my church attempt to host a tourney and see if half of the earnings can be donated to charity and the other half given back to the players. The Woods Assoc. might be up for something like this.

How about the possibility of an Ice Bowl, where ALL of the entry fees go to charity. HFDS has always supported the Food Bank of Houston. Maybe there is a good charity opportunity in Montgomery County that could be used as cover for an event in the early months of 2009.

Maybe the Montgomery County Chain Gang could step up and help out their local area. I'm sure there is a food bank or shelter in that area. Not everyone out there lives with the silver spoon that is the Woodlands in their mouths.

funny. I don't live up in that neck of the woods, and as I recall some of those guys from up that way..................Mr. Stillwagon I recall, went on and on about they were about supporting things in THEIR neck of the woods aka The Woodlands/Conroe area.

We have an Ice Bowl at my home course already that I participate in.

Just throwing out an idea of how to maybe get around the fee/split with The Woodlands Corp.............remember, you guys are interested in learning from us old farts.

Feb 21 @ Moffitt was the date discussed at the Dec HFDS monthly meeting. Don't know if that date is set in stone yet.

I'm going to help run a World's Biggest at Bear Branch w/ P & R support.
Details forthcoming in the early spring.

It'll be held the first weekend in May.

I'll propose holding the WB on Sat. and maybe a non sanctioned 2 round tournament on Sun.?

For those that are not familiar with the World's Biggest it's a non competitive, all inclusive fun round. Bring the kids, bring your parents, bring out a non-player & introduce them to this grea game we're so passionate about. The basic concept is to hold a simultaneous event at hundreds of courses around the world and introduce the game to new people.

It's usually around $15 - $20 to enter & you get a disc & tee shirt for entering.

Go to http://www.wbdgw.com/ for more information.

Brooks will host the long running WB event on Saturday as well.

Good job Alex. And I bet the P&R dept. was not that bad to work with either. All it takes is a little communication. I'm glad to see the event get some exposure in the North.
