Default Birdshot Mini January 17

Happy New Year, Birdshooters! We'll be having a mini here on Saturday, January 17, 2009....sign-up from 8:00 to 8:45....clinic (if necessary) and then tee off around 9:00 or 9:15. We'll play the short tees first & then the longs for a total of 18 holes. This is a good beginner course for those of you just starting to play tournaments....probably one of the easiest courses in town. So mark your calendars & come on out!

I've been told that the basket for Hole 6 is once again missing...I will bring my brand new DiscCatcher practice basket for the mini Saturday. I'm thinking about putting it on TOP of the hill...that would be new & different! Hopefully we'll get more than two people show up like last time...come on out, peoples!

It'll be cold Saturday morning, but we'll be there! I put the word out at Brooks Sunday...could be that Lefty & maybe some other Seabrook players will come out. If anyone is a new player or wants to bring their kid(s) to play, this is a good beginner course. Most of the holes are short & fairly easy (compared with other courses in town anyway). There are alternate tees there so we will probably play the shorts first & then the longs.

6 players played the mini today. Marcus Erickson won Advanced, I won Grandmasters, and Patrick Brogdon won Rec. For all the results and info go to Birdshot's website at www.houstonbirdshot.com. Billy provided the basket for stolen #6. I did an evaluation of the course and it needs a wood post tee marker for long #7 also. This course does need an active supervisor to look over it and help with the maintenance. Anybody interested? If so, contact me by email at charleshconaway@yahoo.com. Next mini at Crosspoint Community Church of Katy 2-28-09. Hope to see ya there for cash payout.

6 players in 3 divisions? Why didn't you and Chuck play with Patrick?

Billy and I wanted to fight it out for that big $20 pot. Lunch money.

That's what I was hoping, but oh well. I'm not a good gambler. They probably would have taken my money!

I took a look at the basket on Friday and I think it's been pulled for maintenance. Some of the other baskets have been painted recently, and the last time I was there basket 6 was falling apart due to abuse.

The biggest improvement on this course would be signs telling people to keep their kids off the baskets. I can't tell you how many times I've played Pasadena and had to deal with kids playing on or near the baskets.

I would have joined in on the mini on Saturday but had a host of errands to run that morning. Next time...

I thought they were bird feeders the whole time I went to the elementary across the street.
