I've only played it once but there was nothing on the tee or map that indicated a mando for that hole. From the red and white tees you had no real choice but to go down the tunnel. But from the blue/long tee there's an obviously easier path out to the left making the hole significantly easier.

Only Matt would say hole 18 on the Willy is a great hole. . He's correct, but only he would say it. I admit I only realized the merits of this hole after reading Matt's post. But I may be wrong, Matt, educate us. Tell us why.

Hole 8 willy is great, but only because of setting and general difficulty. Given Ike, I was sad to see how much it had changed.

18 Willy is a great hole, many options on your shot selection. Straight, Hyzer, Anhyzer, Roller left, Roller right, Thumb roller down the pipe.

Even T.B. can find a route on this hole.

Mainly because over the years I have taken every route on there and as your skill progress so does the shot selection you may choose on the hole.

Back in the day I would throw an SE valk roller our to the left and play the roll for the birdie, then when I went to Gateway I would throw the hyzer skip with a spirit for the 2, and now I throw a slight "S" up the middle.

The up the middle route may be tougher than the anny/roller but once you have the confidence to hit the gap if you do it right you will wonder why you ever went any other way. Also I like it as it is a good tough bird and makes a good finishing hole where you can gain or lose a stroke.
