We need better tee-boxes. Anything short of cement/concrete will be torn up by cleats.
Also, I think 4 or five of the blue tee-box bricks are missing and/or buried. While the blue tees are for the junior and beginner players, we should keep in mind that the junior players are the future of the sport and we should express to the junior players that they are an important part of the sport by insuring that the junior tees are maintained. Also, it is a part of the course that has degraded that should be refurbished in order to maintain the intended condition of the course. Anything less than the full functionality of the course and all of its equipment, necessitates that maintenance action be taken. In addition, there are a number of holes where the trees are brutally scarred from being hit by discs. I am of the opinion that we should take measures to protect the trees before they get disease/parasites and die. Also, if we do not police our own environmental impacts, then someone else like the City will step in and do so, and we might not like what they do. If we demonstrate proactive efforts to protect the trees, then we will avoid criticism. I heard that there may be some sort of protective sleeves that can be put on the tree trunks to prevent the gouges in the bark. |

There is a prototype teebox at Jack Brooks #1 put in by a couple of locals. I think Billy knows the name of one of them. They took quikrete and mixed it with shell and water. I don't know how thick it is, but it is going to last awhile. Maybe this could be a cheaper alternative to form made concrete teeboxes. Remember that all communications with Houston P&R goes through Stimpy. Just need to know the recipe for a quikrete teebox.

Bart Taylor says that he knows where all the blue bricks are for Rec players. I like to play them once in awhile to work on my approach game and possibly get my first ace doggone it.

You should be able to use GoogleEarth to zoom in to insane detail to find all the tees that I've mapped with GPS coordinates. The KML file is on the DGCR site: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=646&mode=lf I try to upload all the KML files for the course maps I've made to the DGCR site. ERic |

#6's blue brick is about 50' in front of the regular tee
#12's is probably gone. It was roughly on the "road" and even with the big tree on the left (about 75' in front of the regular tee) |

I think #6 Blue might be gone then; I've searched there pretty extensively.
For #12 is the "road" you mention the street or the grooved in path? |

Path and 6's was by the trees in front of the normal box I believe but I have only played them once or twice,

In walking the course tonight at league, Kim Pech showed me that only blue #6 is missing, and he suggested that blue tees be added to A, B & C.

Can you send me a GoogleEarth KML file with the location of #12's Blue?

Are they willing to let us put in concrete? In the past this has always met with a "NO!"
Ask Kim if the city would be willing to step up with some tree protection devices for the club to install. |
