I've had this idea for awhile now, what do you guys think about this....

Each course is kind of set up with someone to overlook it right? How about if we build some type of locked Drop box, kind of like a large birdhouse looking structure for each course that doesn't have a club house like SV and plant them near the #18 baskets.

The course supervisor has a key to it. Over time people will get use to seeing them and a nice little "Good Karma" sign could be made up and attached to it, letting people know that if they happened to find a disc during their round, they could drop it in the box and let the course supervisor take the hassle of contacting it's owner and returning the disc. And if you lost a disc during the round, even if it didn't have a name on it, you could drop a note in the box describing it and the course supervisor would keep the notes and try to return disc that were found even without a name on it..

You might see more disc returned to rightfull owners, because maybe people just forget or don't want to hassle with people showing up to their house or going out to meet someone.

Case in point, I've got a disc I found at Moffit, I've contacted the owner here on the board, but I don't play Moffit that much so I haven't had the opprotunity to meet the guy...Chilidog (I think from this board)

Just a thought.

we're not forgetting the rules....but when a disc is extremely important to you or me or anyone else, those rules kind of go by the wayside especially if you can just step in a little bit and retrieve it.

You can argue this if you like, but we all know the difference in "things by the book, and the real world"

Eric..if you were to throw in your most prized/favorite/best disc in your whole bag, and there was an "Un authorized" diver there willing to go in and get it for you, would you be ok with it? or would you state the rules to him and say, "Although that is my most favorite disc in the world, I can't allow you to go in there for me to get it, because you are an un-authorized diver at this course." "I will wait and see if it is ever found by an authorized diver and returned to me." lol

there's by the book and there's the real world

If you lose a disc without writing your name on it you're an... well, you know what you are.

If you throw in [the water] your most prized/favorite/best disc then you're an... well, you know what you are.

Scott, it's a matter of respect for other people and their property. If Spring Valley (or any other course) has a policy of not swimming for discs and you chose to do so it's like you're saying: "Yes, I understand this is your private property, and you've let me play on your nice disc golf course, but #@*% your policy of staying out of the water I'm gonna do it if I want to."

If there are rules in place and disc golfers break those rules it makes disc golfers, and ultimately the sport, look bad. Simple enough?

Let's see, I recall Jimbo Slusher's illness after swimming at Bass at States a few years back.............it almost killed him.

The lack of consideration of rules was just the kinda thing I was referring to with younger folks. I guess it is more a society as a whole thing, maybe they'll text their apologies for disregarding rules.

We all know that they put rules out there just to complicate things, right?

I like this idea. I've seen this before at some parks. I think Austin maybe... I'm not sure how well it works, but it couldn't hurt anything.

No. But I don't throw discs that can't be replaced at BB #3 or #4, or FCAC #1, or SV #F1, or LINKS #1-14,16, etc.

I had a white Banshee with the old stamp in the nasty part by #13. I don't know how many people go all the way over there, it may have been pulled already.

edit: Also, if you found any mid-160s Gazelles I'll be happy to buy them all.
