Nice post Matt! If you read Matt's post and then you read how the top designers build holes, you will notice they are remarkably similar. I never viewed 18 in this way before!

Here's my faves in no order:
  • #6 at Jack Brooks (original course) - Nice open shot to a tee on the back side of a hill. I like it because it's the first non-tree basket on the course and it's nice to have an open throw.
  • #2 at Seabrook - Tight with lots of trees, ditches and other hazards. Ike has opened it up a bit, so maybe an old favorite.
  • #11 at MacGregor - Throwing to an unseen basket is a test of faith in your own skill.
  • #18 at Jack Brooks - Just a spectacular basket with all sorts of terrain challenges. You really have to know what you're throwing.
  • #4 at Zilker Park (Austin) - a nice uphill shot with lots of trees.
  • #9 at Mazola - The threat of the bayou and the skyline towering over you make this a great last basket.
  • #14 at Pleasure Island (Port Arthur) - The reeds on the right are the coolest place I have ever hunted a disc in. A great course after a night at the casinos in Louisiana.
Least favorite baskets:
  • #7 & #8 at Seabrook - The thin strip of water has taken too many discs. That water is nasty.
  • #4 at Jack Brooks (original course) - Still annoying to me.
  • #16 at MacGregor - There needs to be at least one more hole in that fence.
  • #'s > 4 in Pasadena (excluding #8) - The second half of Pasadena's course has a tragic lack of trees, but overall the course makes a wonderful introduction to disc golf for beginners, and my son loves it.
  • Mason Park - Are there any baskets left?

Unless johnny soccer boy is not hanging on the basket he is safe from being hit by me.

There were no kids out there Dad! What I did see what a group of dudes hanging out drinking out of a KEG! I thought hmmm, I guess a nice pair of Docker Chino's and a nice polo you can get away with it.

Yea, that's how we played it at the December mini. What is used to mark it as an island shot when there's no tourney?

Are we talking best holes and worst holes? No we are talking favorite or least favorite holes on the courses we play most frequently, there is a difference. One of the best holes ever is the Dragon Hole at States, but we only have a chance to play it once a year. Most of the best holes in
Houston are at Tom Bass, IMO. There are some other really great holes on other courses in this area though, just not as many in one location.

Kind of depends on how you define best doesn't it? Sort of like the Heisman is the "best" college football player.
