So, relatively speaking, Pros "cost" the event more than AMs.

They make 15% of our payout at every event!

Also why does it matter that Ams have to pay retail when getting paid out? I always hear how TDs skim off of the AMs but how are they ripping you off if you are paying exactly what you would at any retailer? Ams get too much plastic as it is and I am glad to see more Tds going for reduced fees with everyone getting 100% payout no matter if you took 1st or last.

Now if you win you get an awesome personalized trophy but at least this discourages people hanging around in thier division until they get bumped.

This isn't the 1st time we have heard the pros cost more but we also pay more in membership and this may be misguided but how many other orgs allow AMs to participate in Professionally sanctioned events?

Don't think I am for disallowing them just playing DA.

Not ANY retailer. I dare say that most of us buy the majority of our discs online at very big discounts off retail. I know I do.

Take that up with the dealer then.............or do what I do and just don't play if it is a big enough problem.

If Birdshot doesn't handle their payout (where most TD's make $$), then, in effect, am. players are paying a second time when they take winnings from a vendor who's there to make a profit.

Correct me if my thinking is wrong, please.

They "make" up to 10%. The claim is that the other 5% goes to improving area courses.

It matters because that's probably more than you'd pay for plastic just about anywhere else. Generally, AMs are at the mercy of the TD to accept whatever price the TD sets for payout plastic... it's not like AMs can take their payout credit and spend it where they please in a competitive free-market where prices are generally lower.

How excited would you be if you paid your TxSDGC entry fee in US Dollars and they payed out MPO at the same rate, but in Canadian Dollars? (1 CAD ~= 0.77 USD) I think that's a fairly accurate analogy.

Personally, I have no issue with TDs who keep a well stocked inventory available to players charging something of a premium for the service (onsite availability) they provide. As long as that premium is fair. And for those players that like/want/need the immediate gratification of picking their plastic on the spot... that works well. However, I think there is a market for payout in the form of credit to online vendors where prices are less and the selection is larger, but at the "cost" of waiting to receive your product.

And that's your choice. Also, none of that extra membership money goes to the tournament organizers, right?

I know racquetball does. See The IRT.

It is none of your business

Run an event and you can decide what to do with that HUGE stack of cash they are taking from the players lmfao

I am pretty sure that the birdshot guys do not want to deal with raising sponsorship which is understandable. That includes being given money as I have heard a good bit has been offered.

I haven't played since the October or Sept. event. I played the 1st Jen Benefit then the Mac tournament and Mo City and then decided to take a break. Came to the Sept and decided to take a longer break.

They do a great job of bringing newer players from the player into the tournament scene it just bugs me when people make them out to be the greatest ever when that is all they have ever played.

Hmmm... I must be forgetting those posts that elevated Birdshot to the "greatest ever"...
