Played Kingwood today with three friends. The course is a little over grown, but other than that, its very playable. The tree on #13 had dropped another 3 ft, so it is more of a challenge. I shot a 61 which is what I avg out there. We only got in 18 before the rain hit. The practice basket is gone, but other than that, the baskets look great as well.

Forget to mention that I only counted 5 spiders on the whole course. Not the hundreds that you normally see in the summer.

What do you mean gone? Stolen perhaps?

It was stolen. The lock is still on the base, but you can see where they broke the tab that goes from the pole to the lock. From what I understand , it was stolen about 2 weeks ago.

Probably for the recycling money. Our office parking lot used to have little metal reserved signs until they were stolen and sold as scrap.

I wish there was some way we could get the baskets that are left in Pasadena, and replace the practice basket at River Grove, and at Bear Branch.

Forest crew was out at the park last week and got rid of all the down trees in the fairways. Some of the holes are cleaner. The course is looking good, now if they will just take care of the waist high weeds the place will look great.

The problem is being addressed as we speak, and the Kingwood Asso. is being made aware of the cleaning that needs to be done.

I still don't understand why they took out that huge tree near the #16 basket. That didn't make any sense. #11 is finally clear, and they got rid of that tree laying in the fairway you had to climb over on #13.

Right now #5 and #6 are just over grown, but hopefully they will clean that soon. Looks like someone with a good weed-eater could do it in 30 minutes.

I think the tree at #16 was stupid as well, only thing I was thinking is they let the forest company take a couple "GOOD" trees for wood? Maybe as part of the deal for a cheaper rate?

I can't wait for the weeds to be taken care of. Thank you for the update on that. I know my father was out there and was talking to the lady in charge of the course before the forest crew got out there. I watched them drop the tree on #16 and couldn't believe it. There are some people cutting smaller trees themselves with hatchets that need to quit. They are leaving stumps 3' off the ground.

Kingwood is finally getting enjoyable again. Going out there makes me so much better on other courses.

The KSA is pissed at the people taking out the small trees, and they said if they catch anyone making changes to the course like that, they will be charged with a crime. From what I understand , the police will be patrolling the park and the course on bikes. The tree on #16 an others were taken out because of Pine Bark Beetle, from what I understand.
