The other weekend I dropped off my daughter at a going away party for a friend at Randolph Park on FM 2351. As I wound through the park roads I entertained the thought that this park would be ideal for a disc golf course. There's a lot of room on the north end of the park that is currently underutilized and the terrain is pretty interesting. The county could put in a really nice 18 hole course here.
This got me thinking that there are probably a number of parks in the area that would be ideal for a disc golf course that many of us don't even know about. What parks in the city/county do you think would be suitable for disc golf courses? Here's some I found. Keith Weiss Park - Northside of town between I-45 and the HTR. Elizabeth Kaiser Meyer Park - Cypresswood and Stuebner Airline Tidwell Park - Off Tidwell and Homestead Arthur Storey Park - on Beltway 8 between I-10 and 59. (9-hole course) Brock Park - North East side of town near Hwy 90 between 610 and BW8. And of course, Memorial Park and Bear Creek Park would also be great. Are there other parks in Houston that you think would be good for a course? |

Alexander Dussan Park at Lake Houston, would make a great course. There is tons of unused park land in that park.

I've heard the land at Au Dyess Park would be suitable. West of Tomball by Telge and Boudreaux.
Also in that area - Burrough Park East of Tomball is so huge there would have to be some land around there that could be made into a DG course. Also, this isn't a park, but it's an area controlled by the Mud District that is open to the public that seems that It could be a really nice piece of land to put 18 on. It's just north of the the old Cypress Golf Club in Cypress where Telge and Spring Cypress intersect. (North side of the creek) The land is used all of the time on the weekends. I would even say the old Cypress Golf Club would be great if it wasn't owend by some gas company.

WAY too much soccer in that park and foot traffic is very high, so take this one off your list. |

What about down by the creek south of the baseball fields on the south side of Cypresswood? It looks like there's enough room for a 9-hole course in there.

someone needs to talk to my subdivision, Imperial Oaks, off Rayford. There's plenty of land there.

I know right? Seems like such a waste. Have you ever scoped out the land north of the course. Seems usable.
