There are paper petitions for people to sign in a plastic bag with a pen at the MacGregor Course bulletin board, T.C. Jester bulletin board at the long tee box for number one and also in the score card box at the Agnes Moffitt Bulletin Board.

Should we sign all three?

Also, Taylor Lake Village in the Clear Lake area is trying to raise funds to put in a 9 hole course in a beautiful park on the lake. More info here: http://www.hfds.org/vbull/showthread...=6936#post6936

Do not sign all three, as they are the same.

I also want to thank Judge David Patronella, Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Position 2, for signing the petition for more and better disc golf courses, and all of his court staff (that I could find today). Thanks, Judge!

Let me correct the record on some incorrect information I stated in my email to the Mayor that was pointed out to me at the last HFDS meeting (Ouch! )

(1) the soccer field issue at Moffitt was resolved in Disc Golf's favor, already, and I was relying upon old incorrect information;
(2) I said Mayor Brown's administration, and I should have said Mayor Lanier's administration.

My bad.

Also, we are up to approximately 800 paper petition signatures (The 400 that I have, plus appox 400 that others tell me they have.) I believe that once we have a 1,000 paper petition signatures that one or more of the following methods be employed and not necessarily in this order:

(1) provide copies to Louis Moore, the HPARD contact with HFDS; (2) have a Represenative of the petition signers call on the telephone and/or arrange to meet in person city councilpersons and the Mayor to seek to find someone to advocate on behalf of the petition signers; (3) send a Representative to a City Council meeting; (4) email and write all of those that signed the petition asking them to call City Council and the Mayor's office to inform their city government representatives; (5) have those who signed the petition seek to contact our city council representatives through their network of business contacts to express support for more and better disc golf courses and advise of the petition drive efforts; and (6) contact the petition signers and ask as many of them as possible to come to take a day off from work to come to a city council meeting to show and express their support for more and better disc golf courses in Houston.

In addition, do the same thing with the County vis a vis Precinct One parks and rec. and Commisioner El Campo Lee, to ask to keep the Tom Bass Course maintained better and in an effort to seek the use of the 4th course at Tom Bass for Texas States and/or in the event that Worlds comes back to Houston. Seems to me this would be the primary agenda with Precinct One and the County.

Who would be an ideal Representative for the petitioners? Who would be willing to be the Representative? (I am willing, but I am far from the best choice.)

Some names that have been mentioned include Pat Stallman, Matt Hall, Dixon Jowers, Susan MacDonald, Neal Dambra, ERic Juben, Ed Morgan and Conrad Joe. Anyone want to make a nomination of who to ask-to-be/draft as a Representative? Anyone want to nominate themselves?

I intend to conduct a message board poll and ask that people either message me or post their nominations.

Thumbs up Re: On-Line Petition for More & Better Disc Golf

See attached a copy of a letter that I received from Joe Turner, Director of Houston Parks & Rec. It says among other things that based upon the written proposal of Adam Stallman, Parks & Rec. approved purchase of 6 benches for Agnes Moffitt Park Disc Golf Course. Thanks to Adam Stallman for his tireless work in preparing and making the proposal and working with Houston Parks & Rec. Also, a thank you to Mayor Bill White, Director Joe Turner, Dep. Director Doug Earle, Dep. Director Mark Ross, Dep. Director Abel Gonzalez, Dep. Director Jeff Jefferson, Sr. Superintendent Louis Moore and all of the helpful parks department staff for their conscientious dedication to our city and their time, attention and resources for disc golf. We can appreciate and be proud of the City of Houston's attention to the concerns and ideas of the disc golf community and the involvement and allocations by the Parks & Recreation Department's time, effort and resources to disc golf. Also, we can be proud of and have many thanks to HFDS, Birdshot, North Side Chain gang and the other disc golf organizations and community members in the Houston area for all of their continuing efforts in the promotion and improvement of Disc Golf in the Houston area. It is an honor to work with and be affiliated with so many talented people.

I believe that we are close to the 1000 signature goal. I ask that those that read this post who have signed petitions in their possession to send them to me by mailing to Richard Fason, 1302 Waugh Drive #113, Houston, Texas 77019, or at least by scanning them and PM to bettercounsel.

I have a little bit over 700 signatures in my possession. There are 4 other people who say that they each have 35-100 petitions. I believe that puts us to the 1000 signature goal.

The mayoral and city council elections are less than 60 days away. I intend to approach each candidate and make inquiry about their positions on disc golf and then post those stated petitions on this message board. If I have a 1000 signatures the candidates are more likely to take the inquiry seriously. I intend to consult with others in the disc golf community about a questionnaire to send to each candidate about disc golf issues for publication of the results on this message board so that the Houston disc golf community can take into consideration the mayoral and city council candidate's positions on issues that impact disc golf in Houston when making a decision about their vote for mayor and city council. Also, it can become a way to hold the successful candidates to their promises about disc golf. Also, I encourage you to register to vote.
