What is the purpose of this forum? Is it to exclusively discuss just courses on which HFDS runs leagues or wants to promote? -or- Is it a place for anyone to come and discuss all aspects of disc golf as they relate to the city of Houston and its players? I guess I've assumed it was more of the latter. But regardless of the answer IMO having dedicated forum space for "land that contains baskets" (if you don't want to call it a "course") makes the forum that much more organized and facilitates the ease of finding relevant information.

"Our goal is to promote the sport of disc golf and other disc sports to the public in general." - from the homepage. Update to suit!

So I guess by your criteria I should set up a place for Kruse's Backyard Deuce for my two practice baskets. I'll post up some current course conditions later on... |

WHAT is the big problem with threads? Were all, well most are here as Eric said to discuss courses. the only thing polluting this message board is us acting like children at times!
![]() what is to stop you from putting up what ever you want to post? Go ahead and put your two course up, no one cares about this but you. |

I'm thinking about this from the perspective of a newer player. If I were new to the city or the sport and came here looking for places to play I would definitely prefer to see a list of all the possibilities. |

This 6-hole course seems like it's getting good reviews largely due to being designed by Jim Davidson and as he stated that he would rather do 6 good holes than 9 crappy ones. Amen to that!!! Leave this thread up because of the activity and reviews its getting but let's take down the ones that are private and generally not open to the public for play...I don't know if the Erikson/Payne course qualifies or not...would they be okay with some of our message board readers just showing up out there and playing it during the week while they're at work? Oak Meadow should definately be taken down though...(Sorry JRW ) but leaving it up here with directions and all just invites trouble. Its too bad too. Why don't you develop a local course directory for us? |

I guess I disagree with the general concept that we should sweep all the other courses under the rug and only give a forum (literally and figuratively) to the popular courses.
IMO Oak Meadow should absolutely have a forum so that people can discuss why it's closed to the public, what can (or can't) be done to open it to the public, and to pimp DG related events like Nature Fest and Ace Races held there. The Bridgepoint course might not be getting the love it's gotten so far if it'd been banished to the realm of the "General" vicinity. I'll reiterate the point that it takes virtually no additional overhead and resources to maintain a sub-forum per course, and it keeps all the forums more organized. I'm not seeing the problem.... |
