Default Course Conditions

Glad to see the message board back up and running. I've been wanting to know if anyone knows what the status on the proposed course changes are. Also, there are a LOT of trees at McDade (particularly toward the front) that have pink ribbons tied around them. Please tell me that does not mean they are slated to be cut down. The patch of trees/shrubs to the right of the basket on #2 have been removed apparently by the electric company........basically makes it a 300' straight shot. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You are right, the electric company was in the area had to cut the bush on #2 because it caused a problem with the line. Hopefully its going to grow back.

I have been told the pink ribbons are marking trees which have a branch or limb that is in danger of falling and will be trimmed, not marked to cut down the entire tree.

Here is some feedback on it. 2 has deffinitely suffered as a hole for the loss of that bush. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I wish they would have left that course alone years ago. It seems that every change they have made out there seems to "weaken" the course. Part of what made that course so nice was its some of the tightness that made up for the lack of distance on that course. I remember when the course first opened, and I seem to recall that hole 6 had a very large bush right in front of the opening that you pass through. You used to have to take the hyzer route. 9's big tree with the overhanging branch is greatly missed. 10 used to have a couple of trees on the right that at least provided the hole with some protection that people wanted to avoid, thus causing a lot of people to bail right and end up ob on the street. Now I never see anybody end up there.
Pretty soon, if the changes and pink ribbons don't stop, we are going to be left with a cow pasture that has no challenge other than finding a place to beat the heat. I still find that course to be fun, but admittedly, the challenge on that course is far less for the changes.

no one has control over the power company cutting branches or whatever they want to do. no one has changed anything, thats the problem. all these changes have occured by nature (#9 tree falling down and stuff dying on #10) or by electric company trying to make sure the power doesnt go out. im trying to get some of these holes changed so the challenge will be back.

Not bashing the course, just commenting on how there were many more challenges with the course previous to these changes. Not bashing the changes as intentional, matter of fact I beleive the I noted that there were some changes by nature as it was.
I play McDade as much as anyone else, but admit it, it is significantly easier now than it was even 3 years ago.

No because we are from Houston and won't listen to anyone who tells us our courses need help and you can just piss off if you think otherwise. Also we shun anyone with a 900+ rating.

What? I'm confused. "We shun 900+ rated players"? I'm out there all the time, and many places in Houston all the time. Please, I knew the guys who designed the damn thing. If you shun 900+ rated players, then there's a lot of locals you are shunning. Good luck with that.

McDade needs help, theres a few pointless holes that im trying to get removed or updated, but when i posted about it in the past, everyone freaked out and said the course is perfect?? Well the changes are coming, slowly. The problem is that it has not been updated, not the other way around.

one actually has to leave town to play some of the nicer courses out there, to understand how why our course need some work. Albiet they still provide the chance to play. Seems to be many courses but none worth 4 bucks a gallon to go play. Considering the best courses are not ever mowed, or we have been banned from playing them.
