Thumbs up Easy Scorecard for Android

If you've got an Android phone you might want to check out Easy Scorecard on the Android Market. It has good support for disc golf and all the Houston and surrounding area courses have been added to the Easyscorecard.net database and are downloadable to the phone app.

The course database includes laser accurate distances for most of the Houston area courses along with approximate SSA values. The Easy Scorecard app has equations built into it that will calculate your approximate round ratings when you play casual rounds on courses that have SSA values.

Here are some more of the features as listed on the Easy Scorecard webpage:
  • 9/18/27-hole scoring (and any hole numbers in between)
  • Track scoring for more than 4 players
  • Scorecard can be emailed to anyone, or shared as a link to Facebook/Twitter
  • Quick score entering – only need one tap per player
  • Disc Golf friendly – custom number of holes supported + ability to rename holes
  • Handicap tracking for traditional golf (USGA & EGA)
  • Statistics – track various stats
  • Primitive rangefinder using phone’s GPS
  • Track fairway hits, putting, penalty (Paid Version)
  • Side Game tracking – Nassau, Skins, Stableford (Paid Version)
  • Export scores as CSV.
The developer is very responsive and still adding new features.

Wish they had something like this for iOS... I've been looking for a scorecard app that "does it all" for a while now.

Cool Re: Easy Scorecard for Android

It is well supported and a lot easier than keeping up with paper...

I read where you can customize the scorecard in the pro version... haven't tried that yet

Well...after seeing Richard's last weekend, I downloaded a copy of it for my cell phone. I'm gonna have to read up and see how to "tune" the settings on my phone so it doesn't dry up before we finish the round...

I've got almost 20 rounds logged in mine so far and haven't seen any battery issues.

If you have Android set to allow the phone to get your location setting from cell towers then EasyScorecard will log the weather conditions for you at the start of your round. Pretty cool. You do not need GPS enabled for that.

Also, the round ratings I've been getting out of EasyScorecard look pretty accurate as well. I'm really pleased with that part of the app.

It might be a feature of the "Pro" version, but it will let you track skins games too and it does all the math for you. Really nice there.

My favorite feature is that it keeps track of the card order so you always know who's up next. It's well worth the $1.99 pro version to be able to download course info and get hole distances. Thanks for the tip Eric!

I have been using this one for awhile - about 60 rounds logged in. It's easy to use and is full of features. I recommend supporting the developer, its worth the few dollars for all the updates this thing gets! Plus it makes all your iPhone toting buddies envious...

I know on the Pro version there is a "Battery Saver" option before any round is started. Even without that, I have never noticed any drain on my battery.

I'm so embarassed...

I forgot to use it to score the round we played at Spring Valley last Sunday! I specifically charged it up full before I left, but when it came time, I completely forgot about it in the rush to get everyone signed up, and cards written out and holes assigned and then the 1/2 mile walk down to the tee at #1...

I will try to remember to use it for my Jester league on Thursday. I can't wait to see what it produces for stats and analysis.

Larry

PS - I opted for the Pro version on account of I have a strong belief about supporting your local programmers!

One thing to note: IIRC it takes three rounds logged before you'll get a player rating assigned by the app.

On a separate topic, I used the app this past weekend to track scores for all the players on my card at the Waco tourney and it was really useful for seeing how close I was to the guy in front of me who I was trying to catch in the final round.
