I agree. The two new holes fit very well between what are on the map you most recently posted as #1 and #2.

If you can avoid a course layout where you have to walk past another future tee to get to the next tee in sequential order it is a good thing... as several players at TxSDGC unfortunately found out. The layout most recently posted will lead to far more (unnecessary) non-sequential play penalties.

Play it however you want, im just showing what the signs are going to indicate. The course needs to end where it began. This was my original intended design before the signs got marked up. The holes themselves, however, have not quite turned out as intended yet.

I like it Derek... The walk from 16 to 17 is much easier to understand than walking from 16 to the car... and like Joe said....warrants another round

16 and 17 are great to end on. played doubles there recently and we were -9 going into those with a card that was -6 or -7. needles to say we tied and went into a 6 hole playoff. those holes can make or break a round

Derek, we appreciate your updates on this thread, but please clarify that the 'reconfiguration' of the 'redesign' of McDade was not your design. The first renumbering of the holes (when the two wooded holes were added) was your design. We contacted the Conroe P&R regarding a better way to flow the course and how to remove the fairway crossover and finish the course closer to the start. At their request we also consulted on the relocation of baskets and suggested making the two new wooded holes the final two holes. We were asked to quote on the new signs for the course as well.

Just want to clarify that since it has not been mentioned. But please note, we do appreciate you keeping everyone informed!

Im sorry, but you are greatly mistaken. Maybe you didnt realize this was already planned out long ago.

My original design was the layout as it exists today. Let me give you some history.

They did not follow through with my original plan until a few weeks ago. When they made the intial changes, they decided to leave old 16 because it was less work for them and they figured it would be ok. I have all the email correspondence to back up my original map back on 4/19/2009, which is the layout that stands today. I was out on the course marking up this current layout before you or anyone even knew about this project.

"Derek, yes, we intend to adjust the course to your original layout & design. Not sure just when we will pour the t-box. We will be installing lights on the soccer fields in the next couple of weeks so I will probably form it up and pour it the same time we do the light pole foundations."

Andi,

I also want to say that im shocked at these accusations and i wish you had talked to me first to clear this up.

You can even see on a post i did back in February that i even had this plan before the walkthrough with parks! My biggest mistake was posting it publicly i guess, now i know better.

I am unsure how you got involved after the fact, but they told me that they never called you initially.

If anyone still has any doubt, please see post #43 from OVER ONE YEAR AGO in this thread that shows my design pretty much as it stands today, although by the time we did the walkthrough in April i had changed the hole numbering to reflect what ive said all along

Well then it seems that the Conroe Parks Dept. are very good business people. They are accessing all of the design consulting they can get...apparently from both of us. We were asked to meet onsite to consult on the 2 new wooded holes in January of '09. We met with them (at their request) at Park Dept. HQ last July to discuss the reconfiguration of the holes at McDade and to discuss another park owned piece of property they have been considering for a 9 hole course. At the time of our meeting, they did not have any plans that corresponded to the changes that have been made recently. We drew it up for them during the meeting to illustrate the changes. We were asked to meet onsite last fall at McDade to decide the location for the new tee box and 2 pin relocations. We were also asked to quote on new signs and it was during that most recent correspondence that we concluded it made a lot of sense to change wooded holes 3 & 2 to 17 and 18. We were probably not the first to see how that configuration could work, but we did send it on as an additional suggestion (before printing new signs) in our last correspondence with them in February.

So the good news is, they are getting some very good input and when it’s all said, done and redesigned, it will continue to be as popular as ever. Perhaps we could meet out there sometime soon for a round once it is all done.
